Halifax - Personal Relationship Manager

Hi,
I received a letter a few days ago from Halifax offering me a 'personal relationship manager'. There weren't many more details, so I gave them a call today. I now have a direct line to a relationship manager to help with any banking needs or advice. She's calling me back tomorrow for a quick chat :)

Just wondered if anyone else had received anything like it. Am I that much of a good customer or does everyone get offered this? It seems like quite an overhead if they're offering it to all their customers. I've only been with them for about 9 months. I suppose between me and the Mrs we pay a fair chunk in every month, but we're hardly millionaires :rotfl:

Basically they have seen that you seem to be quite well off so they think they should be able to make abit of money out of you. So they have assigned you a personal salesperson relationship manager, who i'm sure will tell you about all the amazing services they can offer you.

:D Yeah I guess that's what I thought. My mortgage deal ends in a few months and would have been looking at their deals, so it will be useful to have a human to call and discuss it with. Although I'll certainly be doing my homework and won't move it to them unless it's a good deal. I suspect they won't be the best on offer!

I have a "Relationship Manager" at Santander but whenever I speak to them it seems to be a different person, so it's not much of a relationship.

I'll see how this one pans out. I have her name and extension number, so I guess it just depends on if I catch her at the right time. When you call the number, you can either give it the ext number or just elect to wait for the next available PRM.

"Personal Relationship Manager" sounds like another name for a marriage guidance counsellor :rotfl:

Its called on boarding, and its for customers where large credits are processed through the accounts, or customers that may need help with their banking needs...

You wont get any preferential rates, but you have a personal contact if you wish, I see lots of these registered on account but not sure how they differ from standard customers, other then wealth referrals.

I got the same letter from Lloyds last year, twice in fact. Didn't bother as it sounded like a new sales technique.

I bank with Halifax. I've been [STRIKE]hounded[/STRIKE] called repeatedly by them over the past couple of months, finally I was able to take a call this Monday and I too was offered this "Personal Account Manager" service (or whatever they called it).

The "scam" alarm was ringing loud and clear so I didn't give out any information - but the lady on the phone (Scottish accent, said she was based in Edinburgh, no callcentre noise in the background) was polite and friendly - and knew my name and that I banked with Halifax - so I guess it's probably legit.

Even so, my feeling is that it is as above - they're looking at the money going through my account (business going well; just had to become VAT registered) and are thinking they'd like to make more money out of me. So I told them I wasn't interested at this time.

Interestingly I can find nothing on the Halifax website about this, nor any online messages from Halifax telling me they are offering the service... This thread is all I've found!

(If Halifax are seriously interested in [STRIKE]getting hold of more of my money[/STRIKE] serving me better, competitive interest rates would be a good start, as would not reducing the monthly reward on my current account. While I'm at it an online service where I can send an message to Halifax would be useful, as would being able to change my address without having to visit a branch! I do wonder why I am still with them...)

You can do this through Telephone Banking (or your Personal Relationship Manager - well not now, since you've declined the PRM service) IF you are registered with a Telephone Banking Security Number.

Alternatively you can put your instructions in writing.
