Executors' Bank A/C

My sister and I set up an Executors' Bank A/C with the Co-operative Bank to deal with our late father's affairs because he'd always banked with them and so had I. Despite this, the process was fraught, tortuous and chaotic but eventually we succeeded. Now there is a question mark over the Co-op Bank's future, we're thinking we should move the A/C before the sale of his flat is completed but cannot face another nightmare banking saga. Can anyone recommend best banks for this? Ideally ethical with a good customer service record and I'm happy with online banking.
Thanks!

The account is open and accessible- why would you wish to switch and cause yourselves more hassle?

( The fact that the Co-op Bank is likely to be sold/taken over etc does not seem to be an adequate reason - any such action will not be taken without making adequate provision for account holders.)

If you really want to move you don't actually need an executors account.

it can be easier if you don't use one.

If you do not have a banking relationship with another bank (and it looks like you dad did not) then it is unlikely that another bank will touch you for an Executor's account.
The Coop is safe for now and there are special procedures in place for large transactions such as property sales - you don't need to worry about the £85k limit for compensation.
  • Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland won't offer an executor's account unless either you or your father have an existing relationship.
