Leaving BT - BT Mobile discount question

I have searched previous threads but can't find what I think I've read :rotfl: so my question relates to leaving BT as they can't offer me a decent deal to stay now my contract is ending. I have recently renewed my BT mobile contract at £5 per month and have just received an email stating I will lose my discount now I am moving my phone and broadband.

I thought I have read a thread somewhere that states the discount should remain in place until the phone contract is due for renewal although I understand this may be incorrect and was just wondering if anyone can advise please

£5 discount is reliant on remaining a BT Broadband customer

If you are cancelling because its the end of the contract then you will lose the discount.

But if you are leaving because of the recent BT broadband price rises and have told BT that is the reason you are leaving, then you keep the discount.

I am leaving at the end of my landline and bb contract but extended my mobile contract a couple of months ago but £10 per month for mobile isn't bad anyway
  • I am in exactly the same position as the OP. I had no idea we could retain the £5 discount. Please could anybody suggest how we go about ensuring we keep it? It strikes me as something that BT are not likely to cooperate with.

It never occurred to me when we took out the mobile contract a few months ago that they would suddenly become so difficult to haggle with.

As said above, you could only retain the discount if you contacted BT to cancel your broadband contract with them due to the price rises. And to do this, you had to do so within 30 days of them telling you the prices were going up. If you haven't already done so, chances are you are now too late, as they'd have to have contacted everyone by now to give enough notice before the price rise comes into effect.
