Help & advice for car hire in Spain (Malaga) - best value company without stings

Hello.

Travelling to Malaga for a week in a couple of months.

I have been researching for some time on comparison sites for best cr hire deals. I have spotted the fuel tank costs, 'refuelling' costs etc, plus excesses, insurance etc etc. I'm finding it hard to figure out what company os best to go with. I've also searched for reviews on the companies and found many to have terrible reviews! I'm struggling to find out what the best company is to go with.

Things I would be wanting:
Unlimited mileage
Excess/damage insurance/cover
Pay for fuel I use
Pick up and drop off at Malaga airport
To go with a company, who doesn't try to fleece you at the end
To be able to fit a family of 4, with boot space for 2 large suitcases
I don't need a sat nav, but if it's included, then, it would be used
Preferably one that doesn't require a credit card? I own one, but it's got a £500 limit, that I never use. If credit cards are the only way to do these things, then I will have to look into getting a new one.

Many thanks in advance for any help on the matter!

Here's a list of who is actually at the airport http://www.aena.es/en/malaga-airport/car-rental.html

Avoid firefly, Goldcar Rhodium, interrent and recordgo.

So that leaves the others to consider.

Is there any possibility you could get your credit card limit raised to about £2000? Perhaps give them a call.

You'll save a lot by buying excess insurance separately and letting the car hire people reserve a deposit amount on your credit card.

Avis seem to have good prices through https://www.carrentals.co.uk for early May.

    That's very helpful. Thanks alot.

I called my credit card provider and they increased my limit to £2000

I then used the site you suggested and also skyscanner and found a good enough price through ebookers with AVIS. All booked with slightly more confidence than I initially had. Top tips, thanks! :money:

Good choice; on the basis of our recent years' experience of renting 2-4 times a year with AVIS from Malaga, you will also enjoy walking straight up to an almost empty desk at the bottom of that ramp from arrivals; past the hour-long queue of others who have opted for the "cheap" renters (who will probably stiff them with extra insurance, fuel or "damage" charges anyway).

If you have time, joint the "AVIS Preferred" loyalty card scheme before you fly? That way, you might get a free upgrade and even if you don't, you get a silly little bit of red carpet to a priority area of the desk. Daft but amusing!

Why don't the Europeans have a word for schadenfreud?
