Has anyone had any dealings with Very and can advise the best way to tackle them? Thanks!

Step (1) CCA Request - shop direct group (of which very is a part) are useless at obtaining credit agreements.

Step (2) If they provide acceptable response to CCA it then depends if your dealing with them as part of a wider DMP, or just a single debt, they have a reputation for not accepting low payments, sometimes its best to allow account to default and be sold on, as the DCA that picks it up will be easier to deal with.

It will do soon under the name of the new owner.

Sometimes when a debt portfolio is sold, it take some time to go through them all and send out demands.

Could be next month, could be a year from now, no way of knowing.

Well done on biting the bullet and going self-managed so soon into your DMP:T. I've finally done it this year after almost 4 years with SC and so far haven't regretted it for a minute:T

I'm very interested in your question about paying creditors at different rates and whether they are likely to find out that it's happening. I want to pay tokens to 5 of mine for a few months but the 'regular' £25 to the final one as they are marking my file as 'up to date' and I want that to continue;). I'm looking forward to reading what the advice is that people give on this;)

Pay what you want to who you want :D It's your DMP and you decide how you are paying your creditors. Don't worry if other creditors will 'find out' you've been paying more to one than others.

Hi. My husband tonight has spoken to payplan? About going ahead with the DMP
Anyway, they have told him that we could get visits from bailiffs and even go to court by creditors trying to get their money. Debt advice foundation, never told us any of this. How likely is any of this to happen?
We also opened a new bank account and have changed to get our pay going into it, starting tomorrow.
But we didn't realise, one of our debts is with a credit card from this bank. Payplan have said they could take the money for that debt straight from our bank account!
    Argghh we overlooked that, stupid!!
I cannot get our pay changed until next month now.
We feel really panicky tonight over it all. It is our only way of dealing with it all other than a huge loan paying back loads of interest 😢😢

    Stop panicking, calm down.

Please read the thread, I know it's a long one, but it covers most eventualities you can encounter on a DMP.

In a nutshell, Original creditors don't take action through the courts, they just sell on the debts if you don't pay, the debt purchaser can take action if you ignore them, that could include a visit from a Bayliff if they have obtained judgement against you in court, but none of this will happen if you are repaying your debts.

Please take some time to check out the legal process and what and when debt collectors can and can't do, the net is full of information.

You've had some good advice already from Sourcrates -but just to add that we started off with 14 creditors and a significant amount of debt. We have never had a visit from a bailiff - even though the letters received from creditors in the early days warned that if we didn't pay what we owed debt enforcement would follow and that would result in bailiffs, court action.. blah...blah...blah. We just carried on with the DMP and that was that. After a few months the letters stopped and all we get now is the odd annual statement (which incidentally still says you must pay the full amount outstanding etc. etc.). A lot of the letters you get are computer generated and I guess its just part of their standard processes. So don't worry - just carry on arranging your DMP.

One other word of advice - don't jump in too quick. Read past posts about making token payments and give yourself time to build up that emergency fund.
