Sorry for the typing I have bad arthritis in my fingers and predictive text isn't always good.

So I've rang a few up today. Told them I no longer want to be contacted by telephone. So should u write to them too?

Wow this is the first day I've felt relieved and all ive done is applied for this haha x

I think it is a good idea to put everything in writing. Then there can be no come back from them saying they didn't know something. Keep copies of all the letters you send.
You will not get chased by creditors provided you let them know that you are on the DMP. Don't start it too soon, give yourself time to set up your new bank account and move all your existing DD's and get yourself sorted.

I've already got a Nat West account I don't use. So that's fine.

Just need to contact a few people to change debit details. Already made a list!

So what would happen with he cases I've filed for irresponsible borrowing with payday loan companies? Do they still all stand? X

Until the outcome of cases for irresponsible borrowing is sorted, you still owe those debts :( They will need to be included in your DMP. If the outcome is in your favour and some or part of those debts is written off then you can adjust your DMP figures accordingly.

Do you have any debts associated with NatWest? Need to make sure your bank account is totally separate from any debts.

I'll be getting paid at the end of this month. Will the attempt to take out bills out of my bank if i put this in place before the 29th?
Lastly has anyone been taken to court this is another Big worry ov mine.
    Thanks

You need to be proactive here.

Cancel all DD payments, and CPA’s from your debt card, everything.

Court action is still quite rare, but increasingly becoming more common, although usually with debts that get ignored, if your on a DMP its unlikely to happen.

Less than 10% of defaulted debt ever goes to court.

So I would not worry about that.

  • So our move to self managed is well under way - Stepchange have cancelled our agreement. Being over seas I emailed copies of the letters sent by mail to those I have email addresses for and PRAT have agreed our revised payment and have forwarded our CCA request to Barclaycard,

Robinson Way and Sainsbury's are still to come back to us. Robinson way have received our email as they have sent a reply with a request for verification as they didn't have the email address on record. Sainsbury's could be tricky though as I only had a postal address from Google as Stepchange couldn't / wouldn't provide me with their contact details. I've sent the letters to the address I could find for recoveries in Hull and I'll try and phone them next week to work out whether that was the right one. The next payment is due on the 6th so I have some time to get hold of the right people.

All in all it feels great to be more in control. I had a really positive week when sorting it all out and all these high hopes of saving for F&F's but have just heard our UK tenants are leaving earlier than we thought, and there's a significant damp issue in the house (a room we knew had some problems with condensation but seems to have got worse) so it's looking like we'll have to do some work there and either try and sell or re-let it. Luckily we have family in the trade but could do without the cost plus any vacant months and covering the mortgage. We'd had it in our mind to sell though and if we do at least we can start the F&F process (positive affirmations!).

Ok earlier in the thread i was setting up a DAS (scotland) mainly to protect my home. I have a mortgage term remaining of 8 years and about 31k equity which would split jointly between my ex and myself. I am now wondering if i should try the DMP first because it isnt as binding. I dont mean that as i have no intention to pay but hoping through time i will be able to throw extra money into making F&FS. Is anyone here on a DMP with a mortgage and equity? My highest credit card is £14000 !!!129324; and next highest is £9000 the rest are all under £5000. Im just not sure what is best to do.

We also have a mortgage and approx 70k equity. We even moved overseas after our DMP started and have tenants in the UK place. All of this was fine on our DMP with stepchange and we're now just starting to self manage after 4 years with them

    Morning all.

My Nat West account is just a basic account with nothing going in and out of it. So I think I'll be using that one from now on. Unless there's a good deal changing bank accounts maybe it's something to consider however with my credit rating i probably won't be allowed.

The more I think about this DMP the better I feel about it. I've been doing overtime for a while missing out being with my little girl and barely making ends meat. I know overtime is going to stop and that's what is pushing me to do this. I can't carry on with all this debt.

I'm just as I said before anxious about my partner finding out (cannot consider telling him due to his health problems) and people coming knocking on my door or the constant telephone calls and worse Court. But I have realised you can change ya number.

Thankyou for everyone commenting back to my worries etc. Honestly have no one else to talk to about this due to shame.

As long as non of your debts are with natwest that sounds fine.
Good luck, we never had any calls and only now get the odd letter checking how we're tracking.
