Hey guys.
I have some positive news.As you may remember my GP and psychiatrist suggested that I write to all of my creditors explaining my circumstances when I took on credit (I was in the middle of a breakdown and also suffering really badly with my BPD) and supplied medical evidence for me to send. A majority of my creditors have refused to close my accounts but have agreed to a £1 token payment.
However, Lowell who have been managing my Littlewoods and Very accounts have responded saying that they will close my accounts as a gesture of goodwill and after seeing all of my medical evidence. Littlewoods was my biggest debt at £5000-odd so that's a huge chunk of my debt.
The person I spoke to said that there wouldn't be any update to my credit report. Does this mean that after 6 years the debt will automatically fall off my credit report? I'm not sure how it works in this instance.
Thank you.2019 Wins

Once legal action has been taken, they are no longer required to respond to a request for information, you lose the right unfortunately.
OK, Thank you.
I assume that if I offer any F&F on this account then they will refuse as they will hold out for full amount? or will they accept and remove charging order? sorry if this is outside of your expertise as I don't see any questions about charging orders on this forum.
We are highly unlikely to ever sell our house so they will not get the full amount this way. Also I am disabled and cannot work and so only pay them £1 per month. Do you think they would accept an F&F? This one is with Cabot.
Thanks.0 -

Well done Lady M :j
Had you Littlewoods debt already defaulted  I would like to think if they had passed to Lowell they had been defaulted. If that's the case they will drop of your credit file 6 years from the default date.
If they haven't been defaulted what marker is on your credit file for this debt? It will also be interesting to see what it updated to in the next month or two.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

So I sent the following companies CCA request on 23/1/18:
Tesco - AGREEMENT SENT 6/2/18 (Yet to check if enforceable)
Sainsburys (Moorcroft Group) - NOT YET RESPONDED
Barclaycard(LINK Financial) - NOT YET RESPONDED
Barclaycard (LINK Financial) - NOT YET RESPONDED
Natwest (Sold to Cabot in 2017) - Wescot returned p/o and asked me to send request direct to Cabot. Resent 19/2/18.
Most were defaulted in 2012 so due to drop off credit file this year.
I have just realised I did not put a date on the original letters when I sent them...does that make a difference? Of the 3 yet to reply, none have acknowledged to say they are dealing with my request although I did get 3 emails from LINK confirming my account details with them and reminding me how to pay! lol.
I have just found 2 more accounts I am going to CCA request...they are with Cabot.
I have read that Cabot only tend to take on accounts which are unenforceable?? Is that true??
Do LINK and MOORCROFT have a good record for being able to provide agreements??
Thanks.
I have debts with Cabot that are enforceable, unenforceable and still arguing the tos# about. Legally checked, so no they don't just buy ue debts.

IANB77.... We started the ball rolling with our DMP in Nov 2017.... first payment to StepChange was 10th Jan, so I'm still a newbie.
I really wish we had done it years ago... The worst bit for me was taking the first step and phoning Stepchange..... I came out in a hot flush and was nearly in tears but they were lovely..
I've only spoken to the one of the creditors the once after the DMP was set up and they were absolutely fine and even apologised to me for adding interest .
Before I set it up, I spoke to one of the creditors and they were a bit horrible, but completely changed their attitude once in DMP.... The other creditors...I dealt with online and they were fine.
My plan, once confident and self disciplined enough will to be self managed.
Spend your time reading through Diaries and other peoples posts ( it takes hours/ days/ weeks lol|) but you will learn so much and will see what an amazing supportive bunch of people are on here, all in the same boat.
Debt is not something that is freely spoke about amongest friends/family, because you often feel stupid and ashamed, but on here, you feel like part of the family xxx0 -
Juts my pride and the feeling of failure if honest... I have emailed most creditors so didnt need to speak over the phone. Just worry about getting all the phone calls etc, when my 30 day grace period is up. _pale_.
Hi Ian
I just wanted to pop in and say I know exactly the feelings you are talking about. Feeling like I've failed etc. You name it, I felt it.
Since admitting I couldn't cope and contacting my creditors through my online accounts explaining our situation, the only letters I've recieved are the standard ones such as default notices etc. Even after the 30 day period our creditors have been very accommodating and actually very supportive.
I started my DMP with Stepchange, a few months later I found the courage to go self managed. I had a slight wobble along the way but listened to the advice and support on here and now I'm settled and have not looked back
I've even had the courage to phone creditors and challenge interest and got it refunded. I even badgered them to default us and it worked.
The only people who know about our mountain of debt are myself and my DH. Oh and the thousand people on here :rotfl:
Good luck and follow the advice and guidance on here and you will be fine.

Hello Guys
firstly just want to say what a wonderful site this this, sent many a sleepless night going through the comments and being encouraged.
I contacted Step Change in December and arranged a plan, then got an unexpected rates bill so phone step change to say i won't be able to start the management plan until March.
I now have near paid for this bill, but after reading some comments on here i have decided to build up a emergency fund, so asked my creditors can if i can make token payments until July of this year.
They have come back and said if i can elaborate on the long delayed start date for the DMP and also they cannot accept token payments until i do a budget and forward it on to them.
Obviously there will be money for the plan in my budget, can i just tell them that I am saving an emergency fund?0 -

The odd thing is that the Very account is listed on my credit report but the Littlewoods isn't, even under "closed accounts."
The Very one has defaulted but as the Littlewoods one isn't even listed, I have no idea what has been going on with that one!2019 Wins
