    Hi,

What bits of it have you found particularly difficult ?

Maybe i can ease your mind somewhat.

Juts my pride and the feeling of failure if honest... I have emailed most creditors so didnt need to speak over the phone. Just worry about getting all the phone calls etc, when my 30 day grace period is up. _pale_.

Take it from someone who has been in debt management and been insolvent twice, due to circumstances beyond my control, everyone feels like that at first, you will get over it, i assure you.

People take on these debts thinking they can easily repay them, then something goes wrong, and you realize you cant, that`s life unfortunately

Phone calls and letters are nothing to worry about, the amount and frequency will drop once word of your DMP trickles downhill, shortly they will stop altogether, you can request contact in writing only, as well as blocking the numbers on your phone.

And you don`t have to speak to them anyway, few months time you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

I agree with what you have been told already....it really does get easier and better. I was mortified when we first started and was also making myself ill. Now I don't bat an eyelid when something happens. We wrote to all creditors and requested communication in writing only and they were all fine. At the start its a case of one department not telling the other department what is happening and a lot of the letters you get will be automatically generated, so don't worry.
As an example, we have now gone Self managed after 3 years with SC, but one creditor has not given us their bank details to enable us to pay them, despite a letter and email asking them.....well their loss, they have not had this months payment and until they decide to respond, they will not get anything more. But I don't worry about that now. I have learnt from this forum that there are so many people in the same situation and although our situation is unique to us, it is not unique to the creditor. In fact they have probably seen a lot worse.
You are doing what you can, keeping your creditors informed and paying what you can. That's all there is to it, just relax and let it all work itself out.
You know that if you do get any hiccups you can always come on here and get help and support.
    Take care:)

Lots of folk in the same boat as you on this thread, i hope a few of them will respond to your post and try to set your mind at rest.

It is only money, and the absolute worst they can do is take you to court for it, where a judge sets a monthly payment, much like now, and you pay it, much like now, so, in the words of a famous American president : there is nothing to fear except fear itself.

Though once your in a DMP it tends to run pretty smoothly with little or no creditor interference.

I agree, DMP is the best thing we ever did. Everything just runs itself basically. Before this we would have resorted to CC every time we had an expense, but now...and I don't know how I have done it....we live on a budget and stick to it and save for different things and so far have bought new car tyres, car and bike repairs, 2 UK short breaks, Christmas (although on the cheap), bits for house etc and it has all been paid for without having to rob Peter to pay Paul. We even visted my parents twice a year and it costs £45 in fuel and we would have put that on CC in the past if we didn't have it, but now we just pay....its great having money....LOL.

  • Hi everyone,

So I sent the following companies CCA request on 23/1/18:

Tesco - AGREEMENT SENT 6/2/18 (Yet to check if enforceable)
Sainsburys (Moorcroft Group) - NOT YET RESPONDED
Barclaycard(LINK Financial) - NOT YET RESPONDED
Barclaycard (LINK Financial) - NOT YET RESPONDED
Natwest (Sold to Cabot in 2017) - Wescot returned p/o and asked me to send request direct to Cabot. Resent 19/2/18.

Most were defaulted in 2012 so due to drop off credit file this year.

I have just realised I did not put a date on the original letters when I sent them...does that make a difference? Of the 3 yet to reply, none have acknowledged to say they are dealing with my request although I did get 3 emails from LINK confirming my account details with them and reminding me how to pay! lol.

I have just found 2 more accounts I am going to CCA request...they are with Cabot.

I have read that Cabot only tend to take on accounts which are unenforceable?? Is that true??

Do LINK and MOORCROFT have a good record for being able to provide agreements??

    Thanks.
  • Also I have another question about one of my credit cards...they took me to court in 2013 and obtained a charging order against my house. If I CCA them is it likely to be enforceable then even if they cannot provide the agreements anymore?

    Thanks :)

Let us know how you get on with the T*sco one. We have one with them, although it is now being managed by R*bins*ns. Not sent them a CCA yet, as it was not that old and thought it probably would not be UE, but might be worth a try

    Hi,

Once legal action has been taken, they are no longer required to respond to a request for information, you lose the right unfortunately.
