I have my mortgage with Nationwide and just didn't want to apply for an account and say it got rejected didn't want it affecting mortgage in future. My co-op application I applied for online for a normal current account even with no overdraft has been rejected. So glad I opened the TSB one. Do you think I should apply for a Nationwide basic account then or stick with the TSB one now? Thanks.0

I would stick with the TSB one now you have it sorted & not stress about Nationwide & the mortgage going forward.
Hi, pinkpunto
I agree with what kram says:T
You'll probably never need more than one account during your DMP and TSB is as good as any. OH has a full (not basic) current account with TSB and has always been very happy with it and them.0 -
Thanks for the advice, will stick with the TSB one. Still need to check my numbers then will send off for the pack from StepChange.
Do you think I should send my creditors another communication with my StepChange reference number and advising that StepChange will be in contact with them in due course. I'm just aware that my third missed payment will be due this week and getting a bit worried now what might happen. Don't really want to talk to them so would be an email or letter.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.0 -

I would send a letter just to keep them in the loop otherwise they will start trying to contact you by phone & letter.
It would be worth adding that you only want any future communication in writing only. If you look back through the thread January2015 has some good examples to use.
Good luck

Hi all
I thought I would share my recent experience of trying to get a new mortgage on dmp. We have been on dmp for 3 years with Stepchange, we were to redeem existing mortgage and take out a lower new mortgage, admittedly with large amount equity. We didn’t get it, the only reason being that I had ‘missed’ one Stepchange payment over the preceding year, an arranged miss as it was Xmas and as Dh is self employed and had no income for 2 weeks. Not sure if I’m allowed to mention their name Precise, please let me know if I should delete that.
Just to say it is possible to get a mortgage, if you keep all finances tidy on dmp.
Best wishes to all0 -
Thanks for the advice kram. I'll send them another letter/ email as advised to keep them informed (I had put only communicate through letter but they are still calling!). Some had replied to emails, others hadn't. Ive not been answering the phone though. I don't normally answer the phone unless I know the number and get that many ppi and have you been in an accident calls! Thanks again for your advice will try and get this all sorted before weekend.0

Did you you go direct to your current lender or did you use a broker, would it be worth phone call or email to see if anything else can be done as it seems harsh to be penalised for missing one payment which was agreed to be missed.
I hope you can get things sorted.

I would just answer their call & give them your sc no & say sc will be in touch in due course & block their no going forward.
I would also register your phone onto tps to minimise nuisance calls.0
