Good grief, what's the matter with me? A serious case of brain-fade here as I've now remembered you posting about it:o. I think I congratulated you on it at the time. I've a few family issues going on but that's no excuse for losing my focus on the debt situation. Sorry:o
Congratulations again, that's a seriously good result:beer::j0 -

Carboot - just go for it! I don't think you have anything to lose with a 70% offer! It has given me a taste for it and I know 2 of my other debts will accept 40% off so just need to do serious saving!!0 -
I'm thinking about my CCA requests. I honestly don't remember how long we've had some of these cards. My barclaycard used to be egg so I think that's an old one.
I also used to have a goldfish card but can't remember who that changed over to along the way.
I have an MBNA card which is only two years old so don't think I'll bother with that one.
Does anyone know how I can find out when we took out these card, we have no paperwork whatsoever for any of them and do we even need it?
Thanks

-Tesco loan, Tesco credit card, Barclaycard credit card- defaulted in May
-Santander credit card- BB 5- is there anything I can do about this?
-Aqua and Shop Direct (Very)- AR- has anyone had any luck writing to them to change it to defaulted- also any luck with getting Very to stop interest?
-Vanquis and Santander (overdraft)- DM
Once my payments started in May I only had calls for about another month before they stopped (I did write in all my letters to only communicate with me in writing!).
I have got an expensive time coming up though- car insurance (£330 end of Aug) and car service and MOT (approx £300 end of Oct). Do you think my creditors will be ok with token payments of £1 for about 6 months? I'm a bit nervous as so far they have been ok so worried about rocking the boat...
Thanks
Really, when you think about it - you don't have much choice other than to reduce your DMP payments to handle those bills you've mentioned. As to rocking the boat - why should that matter. If defaulted, it'll stay defaulted and dropping to token payments makes no odds. If they haven't defaulted or you have AP/AR markers- stop paying them for the next 6 months and that'll hopefully push them in the right direction.
What I've learnt from many wise folks on here and from my own experiences 4 1/2 years into a DMP - DCA and creditors have so many outstanding debts to handle, they really don't have the time to keep chasing. They only get snarky if you don't keep them informed and just ignore the debt. So if you tell them your circumstances have changed due to sudden financial commitments etc. and you'll revisit the situation in x months - we'll that's not ignoring them is it
I've not got a Very account, but many others have and they do seem to play hardball -so perhaps they should be the first ones you simply stop paying or just drop to tokens until they play nice0 -
Thanks for your advice Suseka97
Yeah exactly, as I have no choice but to drop the amounts I'll write to my creditors to notify them- will also add in about stopping interest to Very and see if they acknowledge it...0 -
Another day , another letter from Idem(debt orginally Halifax)
So they have upheld my complaint (I never made one, just wrote to say I wouldn't be paying as the debt was unenforceable)
Despite this and despite saying again they couldn't comply with the CCA request, they state
Although the agreement is not enforceable at this time, the balance of your account remains outstanding which we will continue to pursue. A request made under sections 77-79 of the CCA 1974 is not a provision to remove your liability. You are free to take whatever action you consider appropriate but we will not be releasing you from any obligation under the agreement
They then go on to ask me to set up an arrangement to pay. I'm confused, are they just trying to scare me into payment, what action would they now expect me to take?
any help much appreciatedStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

They can still ask you to pay, and still continue to ask you.
What they can't do is take you to court and obtain judgement.
So you can choose to ignore them, eventually they will get the message.

Feeling very unsettled at the moment, it doesn't take much:o
Had to pop out for an hour and in the meantime I had a phone call from Link which OH answered. They want me to phone them back as a matter of urgency before close of business tonight. He asked if they could tell him who was calling and they said it was Link but thankfully when he asked if they could tell him what it was in connection with they refused to say. Thank goodness for that as OH knows absolutely nothing about my debts and I've been living on my nerves for years ensuring he never finds out:o. He hasn't a clue who Link are.
I asked them weeks ago to only contact me by letter and I admit to not responding to the request for an updated I&E but other than that I haven't done anything to cause them any anxiety. They've never phoned me before. I'm a bit scared to phone back to be honest although I have no idea why. I just can't imagine what they feel is so urgent but I expect it's just the scary tactics they employ:eek:
They hold 2 of my bigger debts (£5000ish and £4000ish) one of which they told me weeks ago was unenforceable.0
