  • I hope someone can help me, sorry i am new to this so i apologise if this is the wrong place to post my question.

3 years ago my daughter became seriously ill with a blood clot in her brain which in turn damaged her eye sight, after many test her drivers licence was revoked due to lack of peripheral vision and was issued with a disability bus pass, now the pass is due for renewal she is unable to prove her that her licence was revoked due to a medical condition.
we contacted a person linked to the hospital where she still attended for regular sight test and is still failing to meet the required sight requirement but isn't eligible to be registered at sight impaired.

does anyone have a clue what we do from here.

    thanking you in advance

It's always better to start your own thread so people can see your question better rather than continue on someone elses post that's a few months old.
Who revoked her license to begin with? Consultant, i'm guessing? He/she must have adviced against the driving. Her license was sent back to DVLA? How did she prove it last time? All councils are different so it maybe best to give her local council a ring and ask them this question. When my license was revoked many years ago and i claimed a free bus pass i put the name of my Consultant down on the form, i didn't actually have a written letter of proof.

Can she prove that she wouldn't be able to get a licence now? ie a test result showing that her vision is below the required standard?
Signature removed for peace of mind

She should apply for a provisional using a paper application and enclose form V1 which you cram download here https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/612387/v1-online-medical-form.pdf

Don't enclose a cheque, or if you do expect it to be cashed and to wait months for a refund.

Your daughter will likely be called to a DVLA test centre or approved opticians for an up to date visual fields test. She'll eventually get a letter back explaining that due to inadequate visual fields she is unfit to drive. Keep that letter for future reference and send a copy in with the bus pass form.

    .
Why would she apply for a provisional if she had a full license before it was revoked? My license was revoked for 9 years and i when i applied to have it back i got my full license back.

tell her to have an eye test. if she is sight impaired or severely sight impaired ( partially sighted/blind) then she will get a bus pass.
as long as her sight is poor enough that she would be unable to get a driving licence then she would be entitled to a bus pass. the opticians can tell her if her sight is good enough to drive or not

Use the original paperwork that revoked her licence 3 years ago, i'm still using mine from 19 years ago.

I got the impression from the OP that the paperwork revoking the license was no longer available for whatever reason. The provisional route is the fastest way to get a fresh letter confirming that she's unable to drive.

Not all visual field defects are suitable for registration, if she was registered she could get a bus pass on those grounds which is a hundred times easier as she'd be on the statutory blind register.
