BT Price increase - when does it happen, switching to Sky?

Options
So I read that BT are increasing their prices. However I have not received the letter. When is this supposed to happen. Do I need to wait before I can give notice?

OK just got off the phone to them. They advised they sent an email on 8th February confirming price increase and that I had 30 days to decide.

However just checked my emails for that date and few days after and nothing there. Nor did I have anything in my junk.

They said because over 30 days, nothing I can do. Surely this cannot be right?

What email address is registered on your BT account as the one to send emails to ?, is that the one you have checked the inbox and spam folder ?
Dunno if you will get you will get anywhere ,if they say they sent an email and you say you didn't receive it, but unless you are inside a minimum term ( so it's a newish BT account or recently renewed account) then it doesn't matter , if outside of a minimum term you can quit with the usual notice period, it's only if you would have to pay early termination charges for quitting early, that the price rise gives you the opportunity to leave penalty free, and presumably if you only recently signed up to BT you were happy enough then with the price, you could move to a new provider and find they do the same, put up the price before the end of the minimum term

I get a lot of correspondence to this address from BT including a insulting exclusive offer that saved me 50p a month at beginning of March.. However looking back it seems I had not been receiving any bills. Clearly my email address works as was receiving bills up to 2015. Last year I moved and this is when it seems to have stopped.

I get lots of other emails from bt, there is nothing in my spam box as first place I checked. On top of this my main BT email appears to have been deactivated??? There is nothing on my account saying anything about a price increase, only the previously mentioned insulting 50p offer?

This is NOT a new contract, it is due to run out in July at which point I won't be renewing. Surely BT do not have a leg to stand on?

Its within the terms and conditions same as other ISPs.
ΔWe may change any prices and terms during your contract. If this affects you, we'll tell you about important changes in advance, and you'll be able to end your contract without any fees.

(BT email appears to have been deactivated )

After a period of non use probably .

Suggest you use the BT contact us complains form or your BT Members community forum as you may get better help .

I know i had three or four notifications of the impending price rise .
    Martins weekly email.
The forum posts re the price rise .
    My account billing pages .
Then the actual email to my BT contact email .

I know their terms and conditions. My issue is that I never received the official email at which point I would have been aware of the 30 days. If I am not aware, they cannot hold me to term.

If you manage to break from BT and decide to go to Sky then currys currently have a stonking deal for phone/fibre/tv packages. It's £23.35 per month, £20 up front fee, on an 18month contract. That's for landline, unlimited 38mb Fibre and Qtv. No calls included but you can upgrade for those and pay a little more. I've just signed up as my BT bill went thru the roof when I came out of contract.

I get marketing emails from BT and I've not been with them for at least 8 years, that means nothing.

You've not answered the question of which email address is registered with them. Ask them to which address the email(s) was/were sent.

Well I won my case. They were flat out refusing, but someone called me the other day and had not read notes they was supposed to listen to my call. Came out with the same thing about how email was sent and stood my ground. The lady said she would send out a deadlock letter with their final stance.....

Tonight I get a call from same lady saying a manager has agreed to remove the contract. Result!

Thanks for update which may help others in similar situation.

It does seem these big companies have difficulty sending email, shame you missed the Sky £65 a year deal a few weeks back, if you had got email on time you could have gone for that.
Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !
