How likely is it that there's a dead mouse in fridge freezer if no signs of activity?

This thread has made my stomach turn but can't stop laughing.
Funniest thing I've read in ages
I am now going to check out the toaster!0 -
Had a toaster that a mouse had crawled into. Gorged himself on the crumbs in the bottom, and got himself electrocuted on the electrics. Don't know how long he had been in there when the toaster got cleaned out, but he was certainly crispy.
I remember finding one of these when I cleaned out my granny's toaster. Her eyesight was going and while the toaster incident was simply amusing, I must confess to a momentary retch when I opened a dish on the counter that I think had once been mince but was now a wriggling mass of maggots!
Meanwhile back at the OP's fridge... You could try leaving a saucer containing a solution of bicarbonate of soda in it for a couple of days.0 -
Hedgehogs would prefer a saucer of milk, and you will have to leave the door open too. both of them !!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch......16 x Enhance 250w panels + SolarEdge Inverter + TREES0 -
Sorry Betty I can't be of any help what so ever but the replies on this threat has given me s good laugh! Thanks all0

Couldn't find a mouse or anything else although there was a big spider. At first I had a meltdown thinking there were spiders eggs in the tray but as the fridge freezer is only a few months old on close range inspection it was little bit of polystyrene that must have gor stuck from the packaging.
Now the bad news....the smell remains! It isn't as bad but the fridge has a 'kale' smell. Peppery but unpleasant. And the freezer smells like rancid cheese. I cleaned literally every inch of the fridge and freezer but the smell is still there. All out of ideas !0 -

Of late?!?!?! :eek::shocked:0 -
We had an overpowering smell coming from our fridge and we were using some very special ( expensive ) fridge odour remover/cleaner spray to try to clear it.
We tried for almost 3 weeks to get rid of the smell, but no matter how many times we cleaned it still remained.
Turned out it was the smell of the actual odour remover that after a while went very off!0 -
I feel sorry for Betty, but this thread is funny as well
I know times are extremely hard. I was wondering , how old is the fridge freezer? If it's past the guarantee , then hopefully chuck it out and get a new one ?
I wouldnt use it either , as there is a high risk of food poisoning imho.
2 years ago, there was a fault in my fridge freezer. Never fun when you're in debt . I got food poisoning a couple of times .
Ended up having to get a new one .
also, I know it may be ott, but make sure you haven't a gas leak .
Best of luck0 -
BettyBoop17 wrote: »We got a new fridge freezer a few months ago. It's a standalone unit in the utility room. A couple of days ago I noticed an evil smell coming from the freezer. I cleaned the fridge and freezer out with disinfectant. Couldn't find anything off. The smell persisted. It also seems to be coming from the back of the unit. I googled and it said there may be a dead mouse in the motor. However the floor is very clean, there are no droppings. I haven't seen any mice or heard them. How likely is it that there would be a dead mouse? I'm scared to check
Just realised it's under guarantee. Contact the place you purchased it from.0 -

Yep, been there when I was in a shared house once. Myself and fellow lodger investigated a foul smell and discovered the dead mouse. Thing was the landlord continued to use the toaster (we did advise him..) but we swapped to using the cooker grill.0
