if you bank with abbey you will have noticed the call centre has gone right down the pan since its been moved to somewhere abroad
The last few times Ive had probelms that the staff cant understand english very well and it takes a few calls to get someone who can process your request.
simply write to abbey complaining about the poor service and they credit your account with £20
Ive made over £100 this year - and its genuinely been poor service all round.

Thanks for this, you are totally right, since the customer service has been outsourced it has really become a nightmare, especially at the premium 0845 telephone number rate. (Except I sneakily ring the number I got off "saynoto0870.com"!)
I'll give it a go!0 -

I'm having problems with them contacting me to inform me about the process of an ISA transfer . Do you think if I were to complain to them this would apply.

Does this cover all accounts or just current ones as I have an ISA with them and have had a few teething problems0

Give it a go, my mum and dad have had trouble with them over an investment account. They have complained to head office and been credited £300!!! However, this makes me wonder what kind of rubbish product they have been sold? Anyway, you've nothing to lose - go on and have a moan! Oh, but don't call 0845, look up their normal phone number on "saynoto0870.com".0

I bet this doesn't work for mortgages...0

Hi
complain to the address on your cheque book - or on correspondence.
If it is just bad service then you are entiltled to complain to the official banking onbudsman - and they dont like this as it costs money for an investigation.
every time I haved done so the letter seems to be pleading with me to settle the argument for the £20 - as I think they also want to keep the complaints down.
When you do complain do state previous probelms - state its ongoing and it seems to work.
I even messed up for a DD and they refunded that when I pointed out their mistakes too.
hope that helps

Thanks bj-sailaway & gibby. I have written a long winded letter of complaint to Abbey.
gibby I will consider your advice if I don't have any joy. I'm giving them one week to reply.0 -

On the other hand I can only praise their service.
it may have taken around a minute or two to get the particular dept I required, and found the staff very helpful. It may depend on the time of day you made your inquires. I avoid peak times and phone in the evenings."Food has replaced sex in my life. Now, even I can't get into my own pants."0
