Given the son is plainly passionate about photography - I suspect his camera is his most treasured possession.

What is the point in having the camera if when he travels and has the opportunity to purse his passion, he must leave it at home.

Bit like asking a golfer to go on a golfing holiday without clubs or as skier without skis.

Or for a teenager with a car never to drive it.

Or a Man United fan never to take his season ticket out of the house in case ...
The difference is that I am an adult and would find insurance cover no problem , and at age 14 I did what my parents told me.

Except they have found insurance (already had it seems) and this is a fourteen year old whose parents think he can be trusted in the UK with a camera (they just wanted it insured abroad in case).

No-one has said he has done anything he shouldn't have????

Of course, he may not be as perfect as you claim you were. OR he might be like many other young people and deserving of your admiration, not your age prejudice.

For a MUFC fan, you have a very Hansen-based perspective - “You can’t win anything with kids". Try Matt Busby's "If you're good enough, you're old enough." for size.
I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.
