Wife has decided to claim her state pension ( 3 yrs deferred on 2/6/2017) , I understand pension payments are paid in arrears so does she have to choose the date she wants the1st payment to start i.e 4 weeks later or will the DWP just give her a date after the 2nd June ?
Her pension day will be a Wednesday
Many thanks

I claimed back in Jan and gave them a start date of April 7th which they confirmed by post. Claiming by phone I was able to ask for weekly payments which I prefer to 4 weeks in arrears. This weekly option is not available online and they do not offer it on the phone either, you have to know about it and request.0

We claimed online beginning of February for hubby's deferred pension to start beginning of April.Still not had letter confirming it.How long did it take you to receive the letter ?I understand that with the confirmation will come a form asking for differing choice of lump sum or weekly. So thought it would be imminent.0 -

A long thread about various experiences of claiming and receiving deferred state pension.0 -
Don't forget to include the normal state pension payments you wife will now get when working out her tax position for this year (links in xylophones original post refer)0

Well she rang up at 5pm to start the claim , took about 20 mins on phone , she is claiming from 1st June so gets 1st (3 week payment) on 21st then every 4 weeks after that .
The choices letter re lump sum/extra monthly pension will be sent out 1st week in July they told her .
A confirmation letter of what she has been told to be sent next week .0 -
It is my understanding that the pension payment day may change after deferral. As a form of proof, my payment date should be Wed but since I deferred it is Friday.0

My Wife's was Wed before she deferred and Wed again after deferral .0

I received the confirmation letter a few days after making the claim in Jan. The form asking for deferral preference, additional pension or lump sum, does not come until up to 15 business days after the first payment is received. We claimed online beginning of February for hubby's deferred pension to start beginning of April.Still not had letter confirming it.How long did it take you to receive the letter ?I understand that with the confirmation will come a form asking for differing choice of lump sum or weekly. So thought it would be imminent.
That appears to be correct, my payment day should be a Thurs but will be on Fridays. It is my understanding that the pension payment day may change after deferral. As a form of proof, my payment date should be Wed but since I deferred it is Friday.0 -
I'm guessing that because you phoned you received confirmation in the post. When we claimed online there was a document detailing the claim that you could save and print off so maybe that is the equivalent to a letter.I imagine the letter with exact amount and date of first payment will be nearer the time.Just have to be patient !0
