I have a mobile on O2. My current contract was renewed in October 2006. I am being billed for international calls, which are dialled through SimplyFone.

The bills show me dialling SimplyFone 20 odd seconds before the international number. The 0870 calls are not charged, but the interntional calls are being charged.

SimplyFone’s office is closed today, but O2 say I should take it up with SimplyFone. Have you encountered this before?

It sounds like you may be pressing the Send key after completion of the international number. This holds or ends the first call to the first number, then makes a second call.

To avoid the temptation to do this, you could compose both numbers separated by the pause character, eg 0870xxxxxxxp0049xxxxxxxxxx. You get p by either hold-down or multiple press of usually the * key, eg on Nokias press it 3 times; for others see your manual or do a couple of trials.

When you have both numbers on the screen like that, then press Send. You can save numbers like this in the phonebook if you wish. SIMcards don't all have much capacity for numbers this long, but the phone itself is ok.
