Information re savings credit on P19.0 -
Just to give some insight
Guaranteed Pension Credit is similar to Income Support etc for pensioners - this is the gateway to full HB and or council tax - it is not dependant on savings, the claiamant can have over £16000 in the bank and I have seen in excess of £40,000 in come cases
Pension Credit Saving Credit is no element of GPC but assessed on savings (to be phased out), this will be the figure that has to be used by the LA - they have no influence on this so must use it - they then calculate HB and council tax on this but savings have to be below £16000 , it normally means the customer has a little to pay but normally not a lot“You’re only here for a short visit.
