Hey there could you please update? I’m in a similar situation and I don’t really know who or where to turn to. Was you entitled to the SDP even though you lived with someone?
I hope you can reply
Kind regards0 -

Hi, Just wondered how you got on in the end, and if you managed to sort your claim out for the back dated money?
Ringing ESA tomorrow. Found out on Friday that I've never been paid SDP even though I should have been. Live 'alone' (shared accommodation but have tenancy agreement and pay rent monthly)/no-one gets carers allowance for me etc etc...
Hope it all worked out for you!

tbf i have lead a simple life, lived at home, then moved out.
have always had dla (well since my 10th birthday) im now 30, and then was phased over to PIP (and lost out) so heard about SDP and applied and all the criteria seems to be is, live alone (which for purposes of this sdp, i was told im classed as this, as basically just use a bedroom and shared facilities with the live in landlord as such, no relation) they give me it and now seems that now i have asked for my dla to be taken into account from september 16 when moved out of my mums house (which i cant see the relevance as i wouldnt have gotten sdp coz of her being my mum). so why do they want to know about the time when i lived with her, eg, pre september 16. surely they need to know my situ now, as this is the only time ive been eligible for sdp and the only time im asking for it!SPC no. 462 TOTAL £48.11

The issue with the severe disability premium is that it isn't automatically awarded.
I'm all for people claiming there entitlement but you can't be indignant because the DWP won't informed of your circumstances0 -
Have to disagree the DWP told me about SDP when I was eligible to receive it. This was about 8 years ago mind.0

Thanks guys.
DWP actually sent me the form near the begining of my claim, which I replied to - I never got a response so I presumed I didn't qualify! Turns out I should have done. Lucky I keep all documents and (proof of postage receipts which I write on what they were for!)...
We will see. I'm not too worried about back pay, but it would make a huge difference if I can manage to get it from now on as care costs are so high now!SPC no. 462 TOTAL £48.11

Can someone help me please...
I am on esa and pip I get standard care and enhanced motobilty. B4 pip I was on dla the same rates middle n high and was indefinitely.
My question is for the past 16/17 years my husband has lived in my rented council home but we are no longer a couple he has his room and I have my room the dwp know this and housing etc know all this aswell.
I get SDP on my money as I have my own esa with not being a couple... Mr D was on high dla for both for years and went onto pip he got standard for both then won his tribunal kept standard care but high motobilty..
He also has his own esa and was told about the SDP so he rang dwp and they sent a form out he went to law centre for them to help fill it out but then the solicitor said I should prob not have Sdp as I do not live alone I did go onto tell them I have my own esa money and pip and I get the sdp.. So he said Mr D shouldn't put in for it as he is in my home and would not be classed as living alone... I went onto tell him we have not been a couple for years n years he has his room I have mine... He only stays here as we both have severe medical prob and we are in a sheltered housing and our daughter and son helps both of us .i am worried sick that I have done something wrong with me having the SDP on my money... Would MrD be entitled to claim SDP onto his own esa and be classed as living alone as I said we have not lived as a couple for over 16years and the social security know this... Please can you advise me as I just don't know what to do next.. Is he entitled to claim SDP and will it be classed as living alone thankyou for any advise... Oh I forgot to say the dwp says they would send out a form for him to claim it and it would prob be backdated to 2014 as he has never had it... What is the form name they should send him please as not sure if he even has the correct firm....Thankyou0 -
It makes no difference if you're classed as living alone or not. As you're both claiming a qualifying benefit (daily living PIP) then you'll both qualify for the SDP. It's the IS10 form to claim SDP.Miss_D2427 wrote: »Can someone help me please...

See this link for SDP rules.

In your case DLA mid/high rate care is also a qualifying benefit for SDP.0
