I would not use a phone for any financial transaction. Desktops obviously have risks as well, but you dont carry them around and connect them to wireless networks.
Which makes desktops rather inconvenient if you want to use them away from your desk! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Or if you have a wireless network at home.........!0

I tried to register with Atom Bank but their App said my email address was an "invalid format".
(it ends in .online rather than .co.uk or .com but it is a perfectly valid email address which I have used for several years, and there are many .online email addresses out there.)
Customer Services agreed that there was nothing wrong with the email address but there is "nothing they can do about it" and "The app cannot be changed" .
I am not prepared to set up a gmail or hotmail email address as these are not secure. Any advice?0 -

You dont have to connect your phone to wifi, you can use the data services on your phone. If thats not safe enough for you, then FWIW your home PC is probably 100x less secure than that.0 -

Why is a gmail email "not secure"?
What is it about ".online" that is secure given ".online" is just a TLD like dot com or dot co dot UK. Theres nothing inherently safe about it.0 -
I couldn't open an account with Atom because I don't have a smartphone and, like other posters, even if I did I wouldn't feel comfortable using a phone for financial transactions. This is due to being a techno dinosaur:)
I opened an account with Masthaven instead via my pc.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
