Private Parking: MPs debate in Parliament

It seems many of our esteemed elected members have cottoned on to what a huge scam this whole 'industry' is. I particularly liked this quote: "We got rid of the cowboy clampers in the last Parliament. The suspicion is that the cowboy clampers have now become the cowboy finers and cowboy invoicers. Although they may wish to leave their spur marks on car parks across the country, I hope the Minister will be clear what action will be taken to ensure that they have to ride off into the sunset for good."

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

It seems like Jacob Rees-Mogg (aka, in Parliamentary circles, as 'The Minister for the 18th Century') has the closest and best understanding of the issue, whereas the Minister with responsibility, Andrew Jones, has done little more, by way of response, other than quoted the BPA line, no doubt penned by our esteemed 'Up your skirt Madam', Paddy the Perv! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

It seems that Andrew Jones like his namesake Marcus Jones has no real grasp on real life and continues to hold the motorist in complete contempt and total disregard
Jacob Rees-Mogg DOES understand
Maybe Mrs May will replace Andrew Jones as he certainly does not comply to a so called "fairer Britain"0 -
I agree. Andrew Jones thinks everything is rosie in the private parking industry but every other MP does not.
For once, I wish that Mr Reese-Mogg would expand his constituency a few miles to encompass the tourist trap near where I live.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

No harm in telling Mrs May that she currently has two MP's running around like headless chickens
Andrew Jones and Marcus Jones0 -
I suggest if you have a problem with a private parking company write to the Minister with responsibility, Andrew Jones, he may then start to understand what is going on with theses parking cowboys.:beer:0

I agree.
He needs to hear the horror stories more, let's encourage posters to inundate him.
Things like Hospital PCNs, or the one in the Bristol NHS Clinic where they ticketed on a Saturday (ParkingEye) and the OP was able to prove to POPLA after a complaint, that ParkingEye's 'evidence photos' were (ahem) not correct about Saturday enforcement.
Things like employees getting a PCN for daring to go to work, I'm thinking of the Co-op debacle with CEL and their revenge claims. CEL got off lightly by not being mentioned in Parliament, as did UKCPS and loads of others.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
