Hope to pick someone's brain maybe?
Need to explain a new technology (my choice of topic) to an interview panel without a computer/projector with just a handout.
Can anyone think of a topic that can realistically be covered in 5 minutes?
Needs to be IT/workplace related..New technology.
I know there is a lot of clever people on here so maybe someone can think of some fantastic idea?
The 5 min limit is doing my head in a bit...
Thanks a lot if anyone can come up with something that I could use?

Virtual-reality tele-conferences to save travel time, but still communicate naturally, face-to-face...?0

Good topic thanks but that may take a bit more than the allocated 5 minutes?0

What? You want somebody to come up with a new [Information] Technology that you can present on handouts (I assume you are happy to do these
) in 5 mins; and 5 mins is too long or too short for you?
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Calm down, now wanting anyone to do the work for me.
Just need ideas for a topic - of course I can do the handouts and deliver but stuck to think of something that could be realistically covered in short 5 minutes to be honest. Technology - not necessarily IT technology but work (office) related so ...artificial limbs probably not the best topic.
Was thinking of a sickness reporting system that would automatically notify the whole team if a person calls in sick.
Internet sharing (tethering) could be covered in 5 but a bit difficult to do without a laptop to demonstrate.
Just looking for a topic idea0 -
Augmented Reality is a focus for a lot of mobile tech companies at the moment. Is there a way that you can tie an AR use into something the company does? i.e The company issue mobile phones could use the camera to scan an area and it puts information about what the camera is viewing on an overlay on the screen. So for example for a retailer you might be able to see the walkways for customer flow in a store or see where the best selling items are located.0

An IoT device to alert staff when fresh coffee is made, or when the milk is running low?! :-P0

Shopboot - thanks but high security clearance workplace so possibly would not like that idea implemented.
Was actually thinking of something that would disable cameras on people's phones when they enter certain areas - to prevent possibility of photographing documents etc but...
Esuhl - was actually thinking of something along those lines, ordering/pay screen in the office and just collecting in the staff "eatery" cutting out on waiting to be served etc.
I am probably over thinking that - needs to be something really simple and possible to cover in 5 minutes but useful.
And a bit difficult to know what may/may be new to the place without having been there and knowing what is already there.0 -
Can you get mini projectors for phones yet?0

My guess is that's not what they're looking for.
I suspect they want to test your ability to give a high level overview of a large/complex concept - i.e. the features and benefits (without discussing all the details).
Building on your idea of pre-ordering lunch - perhaps an "employee portal" or "employee intranet" - where employees order lunch, top up their lunch payment account, request time off, view/download payslips etc.
i.e. A 5 minute overview of how that could reduce costs, increase employee productivity, increase employee satisfaction etc.0
