Car insurance for the USA

I'm travelling to Tennessee in the USA next month and will be driving my Aunt's car.
My own car insurance company doesn't cover me for over there so I'm looking for a firm here to buy it from. I'm also not sure what sort of cover I need.

Does anyone have any information or tips to resolve this?

We drive our son's car in the USA under his insurance. Can your aunt add you to hers?

I am visiting my sister in the USA and she checked with her insurance company. Surprisingly to me, they told her I would be covered and didn't require any of my details or additional premium. I guess insurance in USA works differently to here.

Yes, it does.
That's one of the reasons why a car hire quote from a US rental company is usually so much cheaper than from a UK company. It doesn't include many of the insurance elements that a UK renter would need because these are provided by a US renters own motor insurance.
