I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before but I'd send an email with details to Tripdvisor as they don't take kindly to that type of thing. There may be a very good reason all the other reviews are 5*...they may hassle anyone to remove anything less than 5* and that should be stopped.0

Love their comment at the end if this is your review
At the very least, we consider the ‘poor’ comments to be a little colonial, and culturally tone-deaf.
Change it to
" we as ex rulers of your country demand Full English Breakfast"

Their comments are appalling and unprofessional. I've previously lived in SA and visit frequently and will be sure never to stay there. Not the first time I've seen such behaviour in SA though. Whilst the majority are lovely people, there are a small number who are very arrogant and think they can do no wrong.0

I've read their replies to the 3 'average' reviews and the 1 'poor' one.Their comments are appalling and unprofessional. They come across as incredibly smug and arrogant owners.

The reply is unbelievably arrogant with the "At the very least, we consider the ‘poor’ comments to be a little colonial, and culturally tone-deaf."
Some commenting about the bullying needs to be made0 -
Some of wonderful things about both this (the MSE) website and Tripadvisor itself are the occasional innocent delights we get from posts like the hotelier's lengthy response to the OP's quite reasonable review.
As well as the final put-down which Prenton and others highlight above..."At the very least, we consider the ‘poor’ comments to be a little colonial, and culturally tone-deaf."...
...I also love other bits from the owner, Augusta's riposte, like;
" ... we have decided to offer dinner prepared by a highly qualified local lady with a wonderful backstory of overcoming the barriers put in place by apartheid (in so many ways including an education system that failed her and more).... We do share an accurate version of the Cape Table. Much of the Cape Table is wrapped in Roti, baked under pastry, fried in paapir pastry, mopped up with magwinya or vetkoek,, steamed with rice in a breyaine or dished with a puri or as a salomi. ...Its what happens under these pastries that surprise most of our guests....Maybe the key is to see it more as a socio-cultural phenomenon,within the constraints of which, there is so much magic to be found..."
Pretentious? Moi?
It's only a pie, ennit?0
