My laptop updated recently. I connected my Samsung phone to my laptop via cable and file manager only sees photos but no videos. I have tried importing from the phone and still no videos showing. I can understand it seeing the videos but not being able to view them but it just seems like they have disappeared but they are definitely still on my phone. I want to edit them but I don't see how if laptop can't see them
Thank you

If your using explorer to view them and pictures are showing then the videos are probably in a different folder.
If your using a media browser or similar then it doesnt support the video format.
Try VLC.
Select details on the video and see which folder its stored in.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I plug in the phone. Open file manager on pc. They don't exist anywhere. They should be in dcim / camera folder but only pictures jpeg are listed. They used to be on tthis folder but they have gone0

I vote for the "in another folder" option. Has your phone got an sd card or some other removable storage? My phone has a DCIM folder in built in memory but also on the sd card.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

I don't know much about this, but...
Could the phone/PC have switched from MTP to PTP mode for USB connections...? If so, there should be an option in the Android USB connection settings to change this.

Took memory card out of phone and plugged in usb and wasnt working either so think the pc might have switched from mto to ptp. Will investigate further0

Has your phone just updated to 6.0.1 recently if so you need to install the Samsung smart switch, it replaces kies3 on the PCSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0

Haven't done any updates for a while turned them off as it crashed my last phone when I went on holiday. Will update now and see if that helps. Plus I have restored laptop to prior it's update. See what happens0

Yeah. I connected the phone via usb. Selected the notification on my phone as it connected and changed the connection to mtp and low and behold all my videos are available on my laptop. Thank u so much0

Keep an eye on the battery usage on the phone now as it drops off
Mine went from two days to 12 hours between charges.
But does get better after a few weeks plus do a master reset on the phone as this sorts out the battery after an update
So I am led to believe.Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
