On the weight thing ... it seems to be that it's Airport Security in the UK that are enforcing weight limits - 10kg - rather than airlines just now.

I fly a lot and am never normally worried about carrying a bag on that's a bit heavy (the airlines hardly ever weigh hand baggage at check in, and you can check in online to avoid it anyway) but recently flew out of Stansted a few times where they now have scales beside where you enter security. Once I got through it without my bag being weighed, once I got it weighed and had to take some stuff out as it was 11kg. Luckily my jacket was in the case, so taking that and a jumper out got it to 10kg.

That being said, it's only Stansted I've seen that in - recently flown out of Edinburgh, Prestwick, Londonderry, Manchester, London City and a couple of others and they had nothing like this.

When we went to Dublin ( Ryanair) we saw some passegers with HUGE bags for hand luggage !
and some people had more than 1 too ,which seemed to be turned a blind eye towards ?!

i was quite surprised how big a bag / case you can use( and how heavy it can be) ,hubby bought a new one which was within the limits,and we could get tonnes of stuff in it ,inc his laptop
