    I agree that the spec on the original PC is not that bad.
    When 120GB SSD was just £25, I would suggest a swap and a clean install. Now at closer to £50, perhaps a clean install of Windows 7 should be considered before doing anything else.
    If you decide to go for an SSD and clean install now, remember that you can place the SSD into your next refurb. So it won't go to waste in any case.
