Carpet fitter damaged door frame

I got a carpet fitted on my stairs and upstairs hallway this morning. It all seemed ok, I signed the paperwork that I was happy with the work and the fitters left.
I've only now gone to shut the bedroom door (which leads off the hallway) and it jarred.
Upon closer inspection, it seems that the fitter found that the metal edging was a bit too long and forced it into position down the door frame. They've damaged the door frame in doing so as it's all chipped with some of the wood coming away (hence why the door wasn't closing). They've also tried to cover it up and hide the damage by painting over it with some kind of tippex or glue type stuff (definitely not paint because it's tacky). They didn't inform me of the damage before leaving so I'm quite upset at this.
Given that I signed the paperwork before noticing this, do I have any consumer rights? I've sent a complaint to the shop where I purchased the carpet and haven't received anything back yet. The shop subcontracts out the actual fitting of their carpet.
Any advice on this is very appreciated!

How did you send your complaint?
I would've rung them as soon as I spotted the problem.

Not sure how you can state "definitely not paint because it's tacky". You are right, it probably isn't paint, but even if it was paint it may well still be tacky this soon after application.

    What resolution do you want/expect?

I emailed the complaint because I couldn't get through on the phone.
It's not paint because it's tacky and balled up; almost like glue or a putty of some kind. It is definitely not paint.
I would like them to fix the issue with the door frame because I'm now unable to shut that door and at least a part refund of the fitting because of the damage. Is that even possible after signing the document?
  • You want both the damage repaired, and 'at least a part refund'?
I'd have thought, one or the other.
