Well the market's are tumbling and the pound/dollar keeps rising so I don't think we'll be selling those shares soon:o but hopefully (despite everything) we will still be able to overpay the mortgage this month:money:0

Shares. Dirty word. You're not allowed to mention shares
I've seen my value from shares tumble from about 15k to 3k. Northern Rock and Bradford and Bingley - both plc conversion freebies, so just a paper loss.
Know a few friends at Northern Rock, so hopefully their jobs are ok. Worrying times!

FB - that's tough. Don't know where things are going with NR. They probably need rebranding - abit like Ratners did.:o0

OCTOBER & NOVEMBER 2007
Hi
Well despite all the trials and tribulations with the neighbours managed to overpay £1k in Oct & another £1k in November. Mortgage balance stands at £164.5k this morning but interest for the month will probably be £1k so it's £165K:money:.
Monthly interest has shot up from £850 to £1K. :eek:That interest rate hike is biting.
The pay-as-you go insurance is working well and the xmas shopping is coming in on budget so far. Still doing well - havn't had any major overspends anywhere.
Hubby is going to sell one tranche of his share options. We are going to russle up the money to buy the shares then flog them as this will mean he gets hit with CGT and not income tax and then flog the 2nd tranche in the next tax year. Can anyone confirm the capital Gains Tax limit per year for me?
Anyway, "onwards and downwards":money: All the Best0 -
well done for the amazing overpayments

Believe it or not I have been crying:eek: - with total frustration. On the 19th Nov I spent hours doing a large amout of my christmas shopping online at
M & S. 17 items total £153 (including £10 discount on order and free postage :money:This is MSE afterall).I received one item a few days later. Waited in for 10 DAYS - order never arrived. E mailed them this morning and they said they had STOCK ISSUES and couldn't meet the order and cancelled the lot. GUTTED. I thought I'd done the bulk of my shopping and now I havn't and I'm REALLLLLLLLLLLLLy disappointed and guess waht they offered me as compensation. £15 off my next order - THEY WISH - why would I order from them again._pale_:huh:

im not surprised you are hacked off - this happened to me last year - had a knee injury so did all xmas shop online - ordered some of the 3 for 2 xmas wrap paper in early nov - said they couldnt deliver till jan and a number of other items wouldnt be available till new year - you would think they could have got their act together - one of the members of staff in a large store told me their staff numbers had actually been cut this year so i dont think goiing in store is going to be much good either !!!!Pay off 20k by Xmas 2008/Paid so far £406.65/4822.040

Hi,
Don't know how much we'll be able to overpay of the mortgage this month. However, the xmas budget is coming in on target so far. Havn't bought any new xmas decorations except for the tree:xmastree:(it smells fab) and pleased with my present shopping. Glad we already have a Wii though. Havn't got the stress of that this year:D.....
Mr SMF's shares have gone up a little but not enough to tempt him to sell. A rally in the stock market in the New Year would be nice, wouldn't it?! My pension has done well this year -invested in Far-East and Europe:T
All in all things are going OK (for this time of year).
All the Best:xmassign:0 -
Well finally found a plumber and 2 days later we are £1068 lighter:eek:. The new shower pump cost £500 and we had a new loo put into en suite. Still it's nice to have the showers back in operation :T:T:T:T. What with that and Xmas don't know if we'll manage to overpay anything this month:o. Ah well it is December....;)0
