Well,
I got a £700 tax rebate - to be paid as a lump :beer:in my next pay-day. The God's must be watching over us, as that covers the service and exhaust on the car:money:.
RAC came and fitted "the box" so we are now paying our Motor insurance as Pay -As-YOU-Drive....let's see how that work's out:D. Hubby's shares are still holding up. So Maybe we'll have a good month after all;)

Those are really good points and it reminded me of my F-I-L. He put all his financial eggs into his house - trading onwards and upwards - bigger & bigger - however, after he retired he need to "downsize" but it was the late 80's and early 90's and he couldn't give his house away. His financial situation became terrible as he couldn't really afford to live in his big house anymore ( council tax, heating, etc) and he became very ill. So yes you're right, I shouldn't be thinking of buying what I ultimately can't afford and anyway as "Get Things done" said POYM wont necessarily make you happy but neither will a big house. I keep trading up and all it ever seems to make me want to do is trade up some more! It's the banks & building socities way of conning me into paying them interest.:p0

I wonder what your neighbour would think of the building work for an extension but of course I couldn't possibly suggest that that may be a factor in encouraging you to take that route...
While you're talking with architects and surveyors you might as well ask them what they think of the extension option.0 -

Great news, SMF! And the consolation is that you now know that all is as it should be with the loft space etc.
All the best
