    Hi:hello:

We overpaid the mortgage by £1,000k this month, so mortgage is now £145,475. Also paid £500 in to a Halifax 10% regular saver. So not bad:j:D

    SPENDING
Everything came in on budget. We had a fantastic holiday, spent lots, but it was actually a great deal. We even got upgraded to club on the return leg of our journey which was fantastic as it was an over night flight:T (thanks BA:D). I was abit naughty and bought some new clothes and a beach bag for my hols - cost £74. BUT that is the first money I have spent on any clothes this year (which is not bad for a girl). Also I had to buy the kids a few bits and pieces of holiday clothing but managed to pick these up in the sales at JJB for next to nothing.

Other than that, Mr SMF2 had to pay to insure his new bike.

    Electricity Usage
I started an Energy Use diary on the Green board and it featured in Martin's new letter much to my surprise:D Things are going well in this regard and we have halved our use this month, from 15kwh to 8kwh.

So that's about it really. Looking forward into August - the kids are at home so that's expensive:eek: but no school dinners to pay for so that's a plus;)...

    Good Luck everyone

    Hi SMF2,

Welcome back! Glad to hear hols were good. :) And well done on that overpayment.

It was reading your energy diary that got me going/thinking, I'm now tracking our daily usage. I should spend less time on here to cut down on the leccy but it is essential liaison, so doesn't count! ;)

Good to hear that everything went well with the holiday, and excellent overpayment.

Are you really able to manage on £74 per 6 months on clothes permanently??? Actually we cut back last two years (apart from DD as she keeps growing :rotfl:) so this year there's been need for some replacements, and a few suits year end will dent things (even in the sales).

Must pop by your energy diary.

    Hi

I've just found the key to our outdoor gas meter and so have been able to read it and the good news is that we have reduced our consumption from an average of 9.5 Kwh to 6 Kwh per day - a reduction of over a THIRD:j:j:j:j

We did this by just putting the water on once a day instead of twice - not bad:D

Now how can I make this even smaller:rolleyes2

    Hi Stuart,

Like most woman I think I have enough clothes to never have to buy any again:rotfl:- just have to stay trim:rolleyes:....and keep away from the shops:cool:

Kids are another thing altogether though - they will keep growing, and as they get older they want all the cool stuff and don't even mention school uniform:eek::D....

    Hi:hello:

After reading Staurt's thread I thought I'd get in on the grocery theme. In the last 12 months I have spent £3,917 on food, or £326 per month or £10.73 per day. This is for 4 of us (my 2 kids eat more than adults:rotfl:). It is just food - no school diners, alcohol, cleaning products or make up etc. Staright food.

So my challenge (what another:eek:) is to beat this each month....

    Well done SMF2...you're soooo focused.

I'm going to try reading my metres and seeing what I can do with electricity. EDF are about to send me some free energy saving lightbulbs, and I have them in a lot of my light fittings already.

Your OP's are awesome - I only earn about that much!
    LOL!!

:D2010 MFW Challenge No. 112 Mortgage paid in full 27/08/10 I was MF!!!:D
But now I'm not - (Joint) Mortgage £104704.
    New MFW target £5000 overpayments by 31/12/2105 £400/£5000 = 8%
    SAVINGS TARGET - £25000 by 31/12/2015 £13643/£25000 = 55%

There is nothing like owing £250,000 to focus the mind:rotfl:. I wish I had your mortgage!:D :rotfl:

The energy reductions are going well - though the kids are on holidays at the mo so keeping the electricity down is a challenge, they seem to have to be permanently wired into something...:o

    All the Best

PS We are going to have another whopping OP either in August or September (hopefully) - keeping all my fingers crossed.
