Just been looking at a icarhireinsurance policy and spotted this in the policy wording:
You must ensure the Vehicle Rental Agreement includes comprehensive vehicle cover whilst You are renting and driving the Rental Vehicle.
The rental company we use will cover most things with no excess with their expensive comprehensive insurance. It seems you will be buying duplicate cover with icarhireinsurance.

icarhireinsurance.com say you have to have the normal insurance to start with which you get from the car hire company. The policy they sell is for the excess that you would be charged if there is an accident, ie you pay the first so many hundreds or thousands pounds and their insurance covers the rest.
Car hire companies try to rip you off as best they can. Potentially deceived may have been covered but they say he wasn't because they know most people don't read their policies properly and know what they are really covered for. I am sure all car hire companies are covered by their own policies for their cars including loss of useage. They then pass on this insurance to their customers at inflated rates. They charge you for scratches etc which they don't repair until maybe a one time in the year that they send it off to clear all the little scratches, but the customer is charged for it. Otherwise why does the car have scratches when you hire it.
