How much for non metered water bill over a year?

I have just moved into a property that does not have a meter.

It is with Affinity Water and there are 2 people in the household and it is a 2 bed property.

The bill for the year is £285.67.

On the Affinity Water website it advises that the average non metered customer in our region can expect a yearly bill of £174.

Obviously this could be for 1 person households, but this is meant to be an average and ours is a lot higher.

Can anyone let me know what they are paying in similar situations and if I should be asking for this to be reduced?

Your water charges are based on the Rateable Value(RV). With charges based on RV it doesn't matter how many people live in the property, the size of the property, or the Council Tax band.

The average bill of £174 is for water only - not sewerage; often sewerage charges(waste water) are more than water charges.
    Waste Water Charge

If you live in our Central or East region you will get a bill for water charges and for Waste Water removal on behalf of Thames Water or Anglian Water. The waste water charges are set by these companies and we have no control of the charges, and we only collect on their behalf to give you one combined bill.
If you live in our South East Region you will get a separate bill from Southern Water
You can find out which company is responsible for your waste water services by clicking on this link.

Who provides your sewerage facilities? Does the bill of £285.67 cover sewerage?

There is no mechanism for any water company to reduce your Rateable Value.

Why not apply for a meter?
