I used to keep my mobiles for years on end. Only ever lost one and had the odd battery die on me after years of use.

It's been a different story since I started getting 'smartphones' - mine have all been really stupid and I'm lucky if I get a year out of one.

I think in future I should get either very cheap phones or invest in a very expensive one from somewhere that I know will give good after sales service.

Definitely no more Motorolas - but that's another story.

Wow! I can't believe they still work! Haven't you been slightly tempted to upgrade?!

I thought I was doing well by using a five-year old Samsung Galaxy S2.

Samsung Note 2 bought 2013 now on PAYG. I put £30 on it in July 2015 when I transferred from contract and I now have £18 remaining! I tend to use it very rarely apart from playing games and internet use via wifi
  • 3 Months old Sammy Galaxy S7. It's rather good

It's finally got a camera good enough I'm happy to leave my 'actual' camera at home. The battery life is reasonable. The screen is good.
  • Using a Z1 compact which must be about 5 years old.

Sim only deal with Virgin media for 9 pounds a month.

Very happy with this, however phone now has a crack in the screen, so maybe forced to a change.

I've still got a Nokia 5.1, not sure it'll still work as it's analog. but it's still charges !! But they were built like tanks (and were about as heavy!).

Currently a Blackberry bought secondhand. It is so rubbish that small children point and laugh when I use it in public. It is very slow for web surfing using wifi and can't cope with checking emails on Yahoo. I decided to take a quantum leap upwards and bought an iPhone SE in the John Lewis sale a couple of months ago. Haven't even unpacked it yet.

I'm embarassed that my Windows phone is only about a year old, but in my defence the last one went down the loo and my hasty remedial measures didn't work. I've no intention to upgrade or change until I have to.

About 4 1/2 year old Samsung S3 - eyeing up the new S8 (have saved to buy it outright), as my phone is sooooo slow now and struggles to even take a half decent photo!
