Struggling to find decent sim only on o2

My o2 contract that my hubby uses has come to an end and want to get him on a cheep 30day sim only deal. Looking for at least 1g of data and 500mins. O2 have offered 12 month contract with 2g of data unlimited mins and texts for £10 a month. Not sure about tying in for 12 months though.

My other 2 contracts are 4g data 1000mins and unlimited text for £10.70 on EE (mine) and 4g data unlimited text and mins for £10 on Plusnet (son uses)

Also looked into giffgaff (worried about data speed) and Tesco.

Are o2 networks not as competitive as EE? Have to stay on o2 as it's the only network that gets a signal at hubbys work

Just took a look at the Tesco deal but think it's only for Android phones. Need a deal for iPhone :)

In what way is it only for Android phones?

That's not to say I wouldn't put it past Apple to mug naive victims into paying extra for a 'special' sim.

its a simple free App in the Google Android Play store.

its not in the Apple store, probably because Apple can't get any money out of it, they will probably quote security issues?

Anyways Apple fans content with paying high prices?

a measly £3 off a bill will not make much difference

Sim only = sim on' nothing to do with the phone or its operating system. Buy the sim, put it in any phone which is on the same network or unlocked and away you go. You just need to check the type/size of the sim - not the operating system.

Yeah Apple wouldn't allow an app in the store that takes over your screen the way the Tesco Extras App does. It's basically just an ad-delivery mechanism.
  • Virgin Mobile are currently doing

    1500 minutes
    Unlimited texts
    2GB of data

    Uses EE signal

For £9 a month 30 day rolling. O2 don't seem to be very competitive for Sim Only.

Have to stay with o2 as only network that works at hubbys work.

So in the end ordered a giffgaff sim. Paid £20 (£10 goody bag and £10 credit on account) set up porting the number then tried out the sim. And not impressed with internet at all. Struggled to get 1mbps compare to o2s 15mbps when tested. Decided to cancel in the cooling of period and was surprised to learn than giffgaff is online based and has no phone numbers. Took a day to sort but they have refunded my money now :)

Anyway decided to stick with o2s on unlimited min/text and 2g data for 12 months. Didn't really want to tie in but was nothing really for 30 days
