    Correct. It is not the solicitor's job to check the property you are buying.

    However, you employ the solicitror to advise you on what must be checked to ensure you know exactly what you are letting yourself into when buying.

    The solicitor should alert you to anything usual (or unclear and so needs checking out before commiting to buy)... and your property seems to be very unusual indeed. ;)
