Atom Bank - Thoughts?

Hi, I am looking at Atom Bank to store some savings, which look ok, just wondered if any members had used them?

I've heard they are good but their Phone App is poor?

I have around 16,000 to save

    I've had about 20k with them at 2.2% over 2 years. The App isn't great but you don't really need to use it after you have opened and funded the accounts. I don't know how it will go when I transfer out but looks straightforward to move to nominated account.

    The couple of times I've used chat in the app I have got an answer to the question I asked fairly promptly.

    Full £85k protection so no issues there.

  • I moved £20,000 across from a Santander account. No problems. It's not as good as the 3% I used to get but it's better then 1.5% Santander pay now. The real beauty is you can stick the whole protected £85,000 in there.

    The App worked fine for me and there live chat is great, longest I waited was 2 minutes.

    Where did you "hear" the app wasn't great ? It's not as if it needs to do much ,lets you open an account and choose what type. It's not as if it's a current account there's practically nothing you need to do.

    Opened and funded a Atom fixed saver account today.
    It took 15 minutes maximum for everything very smooth and funds showing on the app within a hour.

    They process the deposits at 15 minute intervals and the customer support guy said it can take up to 2 hours to show on the app.

    Will open another in June when more funds are freed up.

    Some online reviews said the app was poor. I found it really easy to use on a Samsung A3 and it was quick and easy to set up an account. I managed to get £56K in at 2% for one year a few weeks back. They dropped the rates since then and now only offer 1.6% for one year. Other rates are on their website.

    I would guess the poor reviews are from people with old OS's on which the app doesn't work well if at all.
    Or those who expect it to work like a current account, managing transactions when it's real function is to let you choose and open an account and see how much is in it . There's not much else you can do with it !
    I found it did all those admirably and easily. i am running the latest Apple OS (or was until yesterday :D )

    I suppose with Android there are so many devices and OSs that inevitably some bugs will come to the surface, they just can't test all combinations.
  • Yes their app is very poor actually in my case has disappeared!
    I am abroad and unfortunately I can't access my account !
  • I've had a couple of fixed products with them and not had any problems. The app is limited, but they deal in predominantly fixed rate accounts, where your cash is locked down and you can't do anything with it until it matures anyway.

    Worth checking rates for similar products elsewhere as a bit has come off the top of their interest rates recently, but worth considering.
  • What about having to contact them to renew your contract with them ? In my case I couldn't access my on line account and they were unable to help me .their app is very very poor .
