InSSIDer is not & I cant find any others like it that are free to use.0 -
You could always download an earlier version.
(Click the Windows link rather than the Download button).
I think they started charging from version 4.
Or ... Google it0 -
Earlier versions were better anyway. You could also try WiFi analyser on Android.0

netsh wlan show networks mode=bssid

You ask about wifi channels, the answer is that 1, 6 and 11 will all be heavily used because they barely collide with one another, the others will be basically empty.
On your phone you can install Wifi Analyser and basically sniff what's around0 -

Yes but you want the least used out of 1,6 and 11 they are used because they don't overlap if you use an empty channel such as 9 then your getting interference from everybody that is on channel 6 and 11.0
