We are going for a second opinion tomorrow. Hoping it will be a cheaper outcome..

I weighed the watch and a few other bit and they come to around 20g. But I did weight the watch with its workings too.

I tried carrots but I went orange.....

:rotfl: I know you posted that ages ago but it made me smile.

I have loved reading how you heroically hold your family/business/home together and your endeavours to manage your men - I have a DH just like yours and he tries very hard but he just doesn't get money at all. We do talk about it but he just glazes over when he's had enough and wonders off to somewhere less stressy. I guess someone has manage the money! Like you, I try very hard but somehow life always seems to throw up some hurdle that throws you off track.

I'm furious on your behalf for the disgusting late paying holiday cottage woman and her kids. what kind of a person does that? Did you tell her mum? I reckon she wouldn't have been all that surprised - I imagine her daughter's own home is a complete hovel.

And good riddance to Wowcher. Hope you can get back to where you were before they came on the scene.

Re: the missing posts - have your checked that you haven't posted them on someone elses diary somewhere? I did that once :p

I really do think you should write a book and have the beeb do a series. Something like James Herriot It Shouldn't Happen To A Pooh kind of thing :)

And finally, I'm sending lots of positive vibes to you tonight for good news for your beloved dog tomorrow.

Thank you rubyjam and Beanie. rubyjam, my sister has always said I should write a book of my life but no one would believe it was fiction. As so many misadventures couldn't possibly happen to one person. :D

I haven't been in contact with the messy, late paying, woman's mother recently. I really don't know what I would say if she mentioned her daughter's holiday here.

We have a couple of regulars in the cottage for two weeks. I know they will leave it clean. Then we have another regular so life feels remarkably relaxed in comparison to the last few months. We are still chasing our tails a bit to make sure we have enough in the business account to make some payments.

Yesterday was another NSD but today won't be as we will have to pay for the vet's consultation. We also need some milk and vegetables.

Today I have some good news. I have been accepted for a 0% credit card but the offer is just for 6 months and for a transfer of £500. Every little helps though.

The news on the dog is not so good. The vet we saw today for a second opinion has said that he would not carry out either of the surgeries recommended by our vets. He found swollen lymph glands which had been missed by our vet and says a removal of the lump is impossible because of where the lump is situated and an amputation would be too much for the dog at his age. He is a big dog and is 10 years old.

The swollen lymph glands could be a sign that the growth is malignant so again amputation would not be sensible if it has already spread. We would have been throwing good money after bad.... I am grateful for his input and honesty. One thing he said should be done is a biopsy to find out if the growth is benign or not..

I have collected a bit of gold together to see if we have enough to make sending it off for cash worthwhile. The watch is not working and has an 18ct gold case, albeit very tiny.

I think we did the right thing getting a second opinion as it is saving us putting the dog through unecessary surgery. Now to go back to our vet to discuss things with him...

We took the chance to go to 4ldi for a small shop. £43 spent.

I also spent time working out how to make the £500 interest free credit transfer work for us to help reduce other credit card sent.

Things keep changing 're the dog.

I went with DD to see our vet yesterday. He said that the tumour on our dog is not as bad as the young vet we saw last Friday described. He said the tumour is about to rupture but that he would try to remove as much of it as he can. DD agreed to the op which will take place on Thursday. If the op isn't successful the dog may be put to sleep. DD is also happy to pay for the op.

Despite trying not to spend I have bought a climbing frame and bars for our grandchildren to use in our garden. They don't have space for anything in their garden. It is £40 and includes a platform and tent. DGD is quite poorly with chicken po but I know she will love it.. I babysat last night and she was quite distressed. We watched some old videos of our children when they were little. Some of it was our childten playing on our climbing frame. DGD said she wished she could have a climbing frame, which gave me the idea. They all came here today and DSIL did some odd jobs for us. He is very good to us. He came yesterday and refelted the shed roof with DS2. In fact they are all good to us.

Tonight I went to church but then threw up afterwards. Luckily I had some dog poop bags in the car or it could have been a lot worse. As a result I couldn't have any of the curry Mr P made but have had some boiled rice.

The cottage insurance renewal documents arrived today so next week I will be trying to reduce the cost for next year.
