Any ebay sellers offering Argos Click & Collect?

I purchased an item on ebay, for delivery to my local Argos store where I would then collect it.
The problem is I have not received it.

I have contacted the seller who says they have proof of delivery to the Argos store.

I have bought this way several times before without issue.
The initial email from ebay confirms purchase and goes onto say wait until a "Your oder is ready for collection" email. This email contains a collection code that starts FM/

My problem with this latest purchase is that second email from ebay with that all important collection code has never been received by me.

I guess my question at this point is what does the seller need to do, if anything, to initiate this second email to me.
Is there anyone I or the seller can contact at ebay to ask about that missing email?

Any help or advice welcome :)

If you have not had a collection code from Argos then it is likely that Argos do not have it. The seller cannot release that code as they don't get it, that is between you and Argos.

It might be worth you phoning Argos to ask them to double check if they have it and have just not scanned it. If not then you will win an INR as proof of postage is not proof of delivery so seller cannot win.

The collection code comes in an email from ebay (or should do)

I have been to the local Argos store, but without the collection code, they cannot help me. They said they are not allowed to, but from what I recall from my other purchases, it may be because they appear to use that collection code to locate the item in their storeroom.

The item was sent by myHermes and the buyer has sent me a tracking code and confirms, according to MyHermes online that status of item is
"Delivered - signature received from customer"

Now that is obviously the Argos store as opposed to me.
I guess a question that then poses is how can I be certain the tracking number relates to my item?
It doesn't say what the item is, where it was posted or where it was delivered. It probably does relate to my item, not only because I don't mistrust the seller, but it shows it was sent on the day the seller said it was dispatched (as stated on my ebay account & email received at the time). But the seller probably sent many items to many people that day.

So it's not just proof of postage, but proof of delivery, at least to the Argos shop. (despite MyHermes not specifying that)
But I can't get it from Argos unless & until ebay send me the appropriate collection code.

Been doing some digging of my own and found this on the ebay community boards

    MIRACLES HAPPEN

Just had a call from eBay - they have sorted my issue with the store and provided a reference number for me to collect.

For everyone's info - if you ever encounter the situation where you don't receive the collection reference number, go into the Argos store and tell them you don't have a reference. Then ask them to ring the click and collect phone number (they have it there); all the problems can be sorted over the phone with them and that is the procedure they should follow.

The lady from ebay told me they should NEVER turn a customer away.

Thanks for everyone's help with this and I will hopefully have my item in a couple of hours

Seems like I will have to go back to Argos again tomorrow and ask again, perhaps a little more forcefully?

When Argos get the item they scan it and that generates the code for collection- ebay won't be able to help you.

So you are saying the fault lies with Argos who have failed to scan the item in?

Presumably if Argos have not scanned it in, then the 7 day clock has not yet started before they return it?

So if Argos never scan it in, I won't ever get the collection code nor will the item will ever be returned? So I won't get a refund or the product?

I'll have to try in-store again tomorrow. I'll go armed this time with the documentation that says they have received it.

If item has been received by Argos then they are at fault for not scanning it and releasing the collection code. As a seller I have always managed to get Argos to talk to me when I phone them, and at least one of my customers has also chased up a lost item and got Argos to find it and scan it.

However , if item is not released for collection it just gets sent back tracked to seller, and as soon as eBay see from the tracking that seller has the item back you will get a full refund, you don't even need to do an INR.

The good news is I got a collection code today. :)

Following online conversations with the seller, it seems the seller contacted someone at ebay, and then this afternoon I received the required collection code from ebay. According to that email, the item would remain at the store awaiting collection until 16-Mar-2017 i.e. 7 days from being sent the code.

I collected the item this afternoon, but sadly the item is not as described.

I've been back in touch with the seller who has agreed to refund me in full after I have returned the item to him. So the item is now on it's return, this time care of Royal Mail Signed For

My question is, am I now still doing the right thing according to ebay rules.
Yesterday, I opened what ebay call a 'request'. That is where all our communication has been through.
However, yesterday this started out as an item not received. I said I still wanted it (as I did at the time)

Now this has turned into a item not as described as far as I am concerned. But I'm still using the same 'request' i.e.one opened originally for an item not received. Is this correct, I cannot see how to change it other than by the comments I made within it, or should I be doing this another way now?
  • I work for sainsburys and we do ebay click and collect in store, if it works the same which it doe from the sounds of you needing the fm code, how it works for us is that when the parcels are delivered we have to manually input the ecp code from the parcel and accept them as in store, this then send you the fm code needed in order to collect. I know I'm late to the party so to speak as now your parcel is snad, but hopefully this helps anyone else who queries it.

You can ring Ebay CS and they will change the case.
