I have just taken on a new small business and today was contacted by the current energy supplier (BES) that until I have a contract in place, they will charge £1.50 per day, unless I sign up with them which I have no intention of doing. Is this a normal and reasonable fee, is there anything I can do?

When you move in, you have a deemed contract with whoever the current supplier is, at their standard rate.

There's nothing to stop you agreeing a better deal with them or anyone else you choose.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
