Claiming PPI on behalf of deceased parent

This is following on from a conversation me and my sibling had and we werent sure how to, or even if we could do anything about it
Our father passed away in 2012, with no will. With me being the eldest, after going through probate, we were granted probate.
Now, the question that we have is, as our father had a mortgage, a couple of loans and credit cards, which we settled all of when the estate was settled, can we claim PPI back on these things? if so can we do it through the tool on this site?
any help would be greatly appreciated

What's the basis of your complaint about the PPI?0
-
I think that it was that was whether he was paying it without knowing.
He was pretty stringent with his funds, and knowing that if he was around he would be looking into this, so we felt we would explore this?0 -
It would have been on all his statements, so he would have known he was paying it - so that's a fairly weak complaint, especially second hand.0

there is no need to be funny - it was just off the back of a conversation, so thought i would ask advice on this forum - not be spoken to like rubbish0
-
Nobody was being funny. I was pointing out that it would have been on his statements, so your complaint reason would be considered weak. I wrongly assumed you were looking for advice.
Are you suggesting he had magic statements that didn't show it?
For the avoidance of doubt, that second line WAS me being funny.0 -
No, i was just asking for advice, i didn't know it would show on the statements, as I have never looked into this before, hence asking for 'advice' - i was unsure how it all worked.. i didn't know it showed on statements0
-
It shows on credit cards statements.
However, if he had loans, from banks, then the likliehood is it was single premium and that is a good complaint reason for you to use.
Mortgage cover-wise, he had dependants, so the mortgage cover was likely to be judged not missold.
As to being spoken to like rubbish, this isn't a hand holding forum, most of us just present facts, so if you're not expecting bald information, it can seem like you're being spoken to like that, but believe me, only info is provided.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

You can't put in a complaint that he didn't know he had it, PPI complaints for the deceased have to be factual and provable not unprovable allegations (that is to say, you don't know he didn't know he had it).
Any credit card PPI would be shown on every statement where there was a balance (not paid off in full every month). If your father was good with money then would he have paid them off in full rather than paying interest? If so he would never have paid any PPI even if he had it
PPI on loans would be on the initial agreement but can be miss-sold e.g. single premium where PPI was included in the loan meaning you paid interest on that too but you'd need to establish if this was the case
MPPI on the mortgage is rarely miss-sold, it would be a separate monthly direct debit in the vast majority of cases and it's highly likely he would have wanted it as it would save his home if he lost his job or was unable to work for whatever reason
Each one you'd need to ring or write to the lender and ask them if there was any or look through his paperwork
Condolences for your lossSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The executor of the estate can make a complaint on behalf of the deceased. However, there are limitations....I think that it was that was whether he was paying it without knowing.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You repaid debts that the PPI may have covered when your Father died, if there was PPI.
Contact the institutions and ask, I assume you still have the paperwork?.0
