Hi
I was driving in haringey and entered a bus lane i am a taxi driver, now the signs say bus cyclist and taxi only during certain hours.
I was under the impression as i was a taxi driver i could use the bus lane but i received a fine for £65 come through the door with images saying i was being fined for using the bus lane during these hours.
I appealed to haringey about it told them i was a taxi driver gave them my vehicle taxi plate number and my badge number.
They turned down the appeal and said only hackney carriage taxi can use the bus lane, and that i was under hertsmere which counts as a private hire taxi, the sign clearly does not say hackney carriage only the word taxis.
I phoned them and they told me to appeal to the adjucator i did this and lost my appeal,in the meantime they put the fine up to £130 even though i was appealing to the adjucator like they told me to do.
they then said after we turn your appeal down it goes up to £130 which i just found out when i went to pay the £65 which has got to be some kind of scam as they led me to believe the fine would not change while in appeal, they said it goes up before you appeal to the adjucator which surely must be wrong as they are really saying pay the fine if you appeal to the adjucator you have to pay £130 forcing people to pay the £65 for fear if they appeal to the adjucator they will increase it before it can be heard.
Is this right or is there anything else i can do before they put it up more while i find out what i can do.
Thanks in Advance.

you should register over on pepipoo forums using a gmail email address and ask in their special section for issues like this one , where the "experts" are0

Thank You Red
Was hoping maybe an expert might use this forum as it is a really helpful site.
The sign clearly shows the single word taxi that is so misleading to all taxis as the definition of a taxi is a vehicle carrying a fare paying passenger and not a taxi is only a hackney carriage vehicle.0 -
joined that site you recommended but got no email verification from them that was over 2 hours ago and can't do it again as it says email belongs to another member which is me but because no email from them i can't post it on there.0

You can't use a hotmail account on pepipoo, it wasn't that was it?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

lol, attention to detail is paramount in legal matters like this
get the basics right or else you will fail on the more complicated stuff
good luck0 -
Only Hackney Carriages are allowed to use bus lanes in London, this was challenged by Adison lee at the European Court in 2015 but they lost, unless pepipoo can find a loophole I think you are stuffed.

This is probably a better link.
https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/taxis-and-private-hire/parking-informationBus lanes
Taxis and private hire vehicles can pick up or set down customers in a bus lane even if they are not normally allowed to drive in it. The only exceptions are stretches of red route where stopping is not permitted because of the disruption this would cause to already busy roads.
Drivers should be aware that:
- Drivers should enter and leave the bus lane in the most direct and safe way
- Customers should never be set down in the middle of the road, even if the vehicle is stopped due to traffic - the driver must always get close to the kerb
- Although taxis and private hire vehicles can pick up or set down at most London bus stops, it is recommended that drivers should avoid doing so to avoid disruption to the bus network
- Remember, only taxi drivers can drive in bus lanes, private hire vehicles are not allowed to drive there
So if the OP was setting down a fare or picking one up he'd have grounds for appeal.0
