Does anyone know of a free card where you get a new number for every on line purchase? Privacy.com do one in USA but not UK, see their web site for all the facilities it offers.

Out of curiosity why would you want one? what difference does it make if you have a different number to use each time?
Im not mocking im genuinely interested how a different number each time makes any difference?0 -
It's just to cut down on fraud. Once you put a credit card number on line it is vulnerable to hacking or misuse by an employee of the selling company.0

Does it come with a free tin foil hat?0

It seems like a few CC providers in the UK tried them, but wikipedia suggests they all gave up.In the UK, Ivobank offered a similar "virtual card" until it went bankrupt in 2009, and Cahoot withdrew their Webcard in October 2009.
American Express's "Private Payments" was available from late 2000 to 2004.
Paypal discontinued their virtual credit card service on September 22, 2010.[8]
UK-based Neteller offered Net+, a "virtual debit card" with card details generated uniquely for each transaction, from 2008 to 2012; it was discontinued on 29 February 2012, citing lack of use by customers.

I guess that either customers didn't like them, and/or the cost of running them outweighed the fraud savings.0 -
the next generation cards will have a small LCD screen that continually changes the CVV code on the back . Purchase not possible without the correct 3 digit code at the correct time

I dunno maybe im different to most but if someone managed to steal my credit card number or there was some kind of fraud where a store employee used my card i dont think i would care a less. I know im going to get the money back from the card provider and the card would be cancelled so why go to all the pain of getting a revolving card number or the like.
Dont get me wrong the more security the better and the new cards coming out sound great but i see online fraud as the banks problem not mine.
Am i the only one that thinks this way or am i living on the edge? lol0 -

I used to have one of this type of card from Cahoot and it was just as easy to use as any other card - there was no 'pain' or hassle. OK the card provider should reimburse you if it is used fraudulently but getting them to agree will, I suspect, be a hassle. And then there is the risk that you would not notice the fraudulent use. How many of us check every item on the statement - even if we really should?0

I realise this what you are asking for, but why not use PayPal, which is acceptable payment for many online purchases and doesn't disclose your credit card details??0
