Glad you got to the post first! Weekend's on its way.

I'm fine thanks, just spending more than I'd anticipated but at least I now know I'm doing it.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

What a great, upbeat post Hillwalker:T. I'm so happy that things are going well for you. Here's to more of the same:beer:
Sorry not to have posted so much recently but like you I've been rather busy:(.
I thought about you actually when I read our local newspaper yesterday. What's that all about you might ask. Well, a local bookmaker is offering a 'free' £5 bet on the Grand National. It has to be placed in the shop rather than any other way and doesn't involve opening an account (I assume). I expect it might tempt in a lot of people as The Grand National seems to be an event where just about every man and his dog have an interest;).
I also think that weekends like this with several major sporting events that are on TV and elsewhere (such as the Masters golf) must be hell for gamblers (or ex-gamblers in your case).
I'm pleased the letter from the bank situation went without a hitch (apart from your stress levels of course:eek:) and that you can breath easily from now on.
I hope you and OH get the time to enjoy the wonderful weather that is forecast for Sunday:beer:0 -
Hello everyone. I am still alive :j
28 days I think it is and still going strong - All good.
Been very busy with work and family the last week, hence the lack of updates. My spending hasn't been as quiet however
I spent £25 on some bits and bobs for my weekend away at the end of the month and another £55 on a new table for the house. Mrs wouldn't buy it as we couldn't afford it from the joint account, but I could see she loved it. She was delighted and I thought why not!
Need to curb the spending now though, I think bank 2 only has about £40 left in it until the end of the month. That's a lot less that I though I would be left with.
Checking bank 1 and the 1st of the new loan payment (loan 1) has come out - Santander for £445. Still waiting for loan 2 to come out in the next few days too and then I will see what I am left with.
I got my statement from the credit card, I owe them £3 from last month in interest so I will pay that off and at least I know that balance will always be £0 as I cut up my card.
I do need to fill the car with fuel though, gosh why does everything cost so much money - which I don't have
Hows everyone's savings/debts paying going.

Still chipping away at the money stuff thanks Hillwalker.

Could you go on a spring weather health kick and walk everywhere? Save on petrol...I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Today marks day 29 :j
I actually have a spare 10 minutes to sit and do a proper update. It feels like I've neglected MSE the last week and my money head has gone AWOL.
Need to get back in to the daily routine of getting on here and keeping a sensible head.
Back to my last few updates. I treated the Mrs for lunch and that came in at about £17. The table was £55, which although I shouldn't have bought, I knew fine it would have put the Mrs into a bad mood all week with her constantly thinking about money. I spent £25 on stuff for weekend at the end of the month and another £5 on lunch on Monday. Today the car had 15 miles left in the tank so I had to stick in £40 (borrowed from emergency fund). This has not been a good week spending wise...:o
I paid the £3 to the credit card so that's that fully paid off now and I don't have to worry about it. Bank 2 only has £35 in it and that HAS to last until the end of the month, but I need to buy a few more things for that weekend away at the end of the month... Ooo how everything costs so much money.
I will be doing everything possible to for the next few weeks. Cherryfudge if I could walk to work everyday I would, but it just isn't possible with having the dog. It would mean having to walk the dog and then walk 5/6 miles to work. Maybe I will try it one day to find out :rotfl:
Back onto the money front. Bank 1 still has £1030 in it but loan 2 and car is still due to come out so it should be about £730 come the end of the month. The emergency fund is now at £960 as I took that £40 out for fuel.
The Mrs was talking last night about money again.....The dreaded conversation. She was saying about how good it is going to be next year when we can both pay so much more into the joint account and save hundreds each month...But up popped the "that's after you pay me back the £2.5k". She paid off my credit cards during the last gambling issue in 2015 and I obviously owe that back to her. Next year is going to be tough as I will be expected to pay the Mrs back and extra money to the joint account. This is why it is so important to save as much as possible this year so I can afford to whats expected of me next year. Shes already talking about buying a bigger house in 2 years and a few s. I suppose she things my loans finish later this year and as we have lived in what she calls "poverty" for 2 years, no wonder she is getting excited :rotfl:
Carbootcrazy - Talking about the Grand National - All my friends and family were texting me about how they won a few hundred on the horse that won. I didn't watch it or pay the slightest bit of attention to it as I hate anything betting related now
I can't believe what you were saying about the free £5 bet, what a way to suck in the punters and win all their money
Luckily I am less stressed after the mail saga and I can relax a bit more. Tonight I am going to read my book and chill out after a hectic few days.
Take care all

Persuade your employer that it's National Walk the Dog to Work Year? :rotfl:
Things are going to be tight at the end of this month... can you preempt a bit with some ebaying or a car boot sale?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

CherryFudge - I did laugh at your national walk the dog to work year. Maybe he will compromise and make it national take my dog to work year :rotfl:
Day 31 - Not one though about gambling at the moment which is good. I think keeping busy is the key as I used to gamble when I was in the house on my own or when I was bored. My next target is to get to day 50
I spent another £13.50 as I saw a deal for some alcohol in Morrisons. This was perfect for my weekend away at the end of the month. I will sneak the drink into my suitcase instead of buying expensive rounds at the hotel bar
That leave me with about £22 left until the end of the month. I shouldn't need fuel as there is still just a bit over half a tank left and that should be well over 180 miles.I may need to buy a few more things for the weekend away, but I can have a look at that nearer the time.
I visited family today, took the dog to the park for a play with an football and tonight me and the Mrs are going to relax over a home cooked dinner and a movie.
Wish you all a happy weekend :j

Hi Everyone. Today marks 34 days :j
The Mrs and I signed up for new broadband a few weeks ago but now were in dispute with them about the price. We thought we got it for £25.99 but the discount was not applied and they are charging us £40.99. I'm expecting a fight on the phone tomorrow when they call me.
Anyway, no spends over the last few days thankfully. Still got that £20 ish in bank 2 which has to last me. At least it will be nearer to payday once this week has passed. Work have arranged a day out in the pub next Saturday, but that's when i'm away so i'm glad as it would have cost me even more money.
I checked bank 1 and loan 2 came out at £285, leaving me with £745. I only have car insurance left to come out now which is good.
I'm feeling tired after a hard day in the office. I'm away to read the final few chapters in my book before bed.
I hope everyone is well
