Dropbox/Windows 8 Organising files

Hi, I know this is a really stupid question and the answer must be pretty obvious but I can't figure it out.
I'm trying to reorganise all my document files. I use Windows 8 and save them to dropbox. I'm clicking on the 'folder' icon in the bottom bar of the desktop. If I've got docs in one folder, how do I move them to another folder?
I've tried right-clicking but there doesn't seem to be an option for what I want to do.
As far as I can see, the only way I can manage it is to open the files, and re-save them to the new folder, but then I end up with the file in both locations.
I've been trying for a while and I'm just ending up with duplicate files all over the place. Especially Scrivener ones which seem to be saving a whole copied back up file every time I open one.
Please can anyone tell me, in really simple easy to follow steps, how to move files around?

you should have cut and paste options when you right click any folder in explorer"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Ahh, ok, I was trying to do it on my computer, I'll have a go at doing it in the browser instead. I didn't think of that.
Thanks!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
you should have a dropbox folder within file explorer on your pc/laptop where you can cut and paste files/folders. your can do it from your browser but you shouldn't need to"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Do you have a Dropbox icon in your System Tray? You should be able to right-click on this and select your Dropbox folder ... this should open in Explorer and work like any other Explorer window.0

There's nothing special about the Dropbox folder. Move files around exactly as you would with any other folder.0

Thanks - I've managed to copy and paste. I didn't think about that, I was looking for a specific 'move to' option, I'm sure that's what it used to be called.
Although it's still leaving the file duplicated in both locations, but presumably I can now just move one of them to the trash can?
To make it clearer, I'm trying to move stories from '2016' to 'shelved', 'needs work' or 'finished', but end up with copies in both '2016' and the new one.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
if you are moving files you should be using cut and paste, not copy and paste"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

I've always been scared to use cut and paste in case it gets lost, I've done it with one of the files I'm not too bothered about, I just need to have faith...
Thanks for all the help everyone, I think I've got my head around it now.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
You can always copy/paste, check that the copy is in the right place then delete the version in the original location.0
