Anyway back on track I have never needed an IDP in the US/North America. Old paper licence always been good (last rental Dec 16).

Sales pitch? You need to get that paranoia seen to.

If you are aware that the £9 that you quoted was incorrect, why did you not edit your post to show the correct figure?

That's my point, that you are willing to exaggerate and to mislead. That what I call overstating your case.

Because Wayt, I assumed most would have the intelligence to pick up on my 'shame on the PO's BS charge', guess not in your case. It's very amusing, I don't state the unnecessary PO charge and you call that overstating.

We've photo-card dl's Steve, never acquired IDP. In SW Fl with two upcoming car hire contracts when the Bill kicked off, Alamo's manager assured both contracts irrespective of the outcome.

We purchased an old Fl banger and ran IDP passed Geico and Progressive. Geico's then stance; an IDP isn't an official Gov document but a translation document for non-English dl's. In an RTA incident both insurers require valid dl's with passport if further ID required.

I suppose when purchasing your own vehicle the IDP may be added security for the insurers. Our last Fl rental was last year in Tampa and didn't have a problem with my old licence.

Friends paper licence is held together by more sellotape than you can shake a stick at, as he said, it's valid and US car hire suppliers accept. He's a hoot, refuses to obtain a photo-card licence on the grounds that he's not paying £14 every ten years :D

Progressive insurance, no Fl dl required, use our UK dl's, no IDP's. Surprisingly easy to obtain Fl car insurance online, whilst many believe premiums are higher due to Fl's no fault law the rate on our old banger saves us thousands against hiring.

You clearly weren't intelligent enough to pick up on your own mistake, otherwise you wouldn't have posted it in the first place.

It seems that you are one of those people who would rather die than to admit they have made a mistake.
Like your crazy suggestion that the Post Office and the AA are colluding to cheat people. It is just....nuts.

Why don't the 2 of you get a room.

My paper license isn't held together it's in a few bits and has corners missing but still gets accepted in the USA ( and in UK of course)

Fascinating...I'm rivetted. Any more exciting revelations regarding your paper licence?....zzzzzzzzzz

You know this thread concerns the IDP, don't you?

I'm sure you can start a fresh thread on the disrepair of paper driving licences. Then you can have your own room.

Personally I have an IDP regardless. Not for the USA, but I travel a lot anyway.
