No he just bought a new one so that he had covered all bases as he has been complaining to the supplier which he knows will refresh complaint back to the fitting. So he wanted to dot every i and cross every t so to speak so that all bases were covered and that he has done everything he can possibly do to then refer it back to being fault with the door not the fitting.0 -

You made me laugh at your comment about buying a new spirit level. Unbelievable lack of knowledge on his part or he should be a stand up comedian - I cannot decide which!
Winkhaus is fitted on many doors and it comes with a guarantee from the door company. Yours will be under guarantee so get it sorted if it is faulty. However, they are a weak spot, they do fail, and I will be diplomatic here. Frequently they fail because of heavy handed and inconsiderate use. Were this to be the case with yours then a guarantee does not cover this.
To cover all bases say it has been treated with loving care at all times and it has been maintained. I trusty you have been lubricating it to honour due diligence on maintenance - many consumers ignore this. However this should have been explained by your door fitter - did he brief you on this?0 -
Has the door got an equal air gap round it or is it tighter at the lock side .Is the lock keep one piece continuing up the frame or individual keepsif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0

He is a legitimate fitter, he just happens to be a friend who helped me out by doing it cheaper than he would normally charge. I am a trained florist, I do 'mates rates' flowers for my friends weddings. It does not mean I do a 'bodge job' I just charge them less because they are friends. Have none of you ever helped out a friend by working for them for less? I still paid £880 for the door and side window and frame and fitting so it was only a little cheaper, my other friend had quoted me £970 initially but the company sent the door handed the wrong way so I sent it back.
He has covered all bases, he even bought a brand new spirit level to re check his fitting again. I even had a locksmith out and he suggested the keeps needing replacing which my fitter also agreed needed replacing, yet the issue was still the same. He has fitted hundreds of these doors and has a lot of business with the supplier.
Thats OK then. But we don’t know you or your friend, so you can surely understand why we questioned it given that you are asking for advice here rather than asking your friend. If he is legitimate then I’m sure he will sort it out – mates rates or not I think it’s his responsibility to solve. Hope you get it sorted. I’m after a composite door myself so I’ll be following with interest!.
