Quote ...As for MSE encouraging complaints & bartering, well it is Money Saving Expert, be a bit of a misnomer if they didn't. The liklihood of everyone paying a bit over the odds to cover businesses for that, well that's true.

I am just being MSE in pointing this out.
Sometimes I wonder how much it actually costs genuine consumers when I read some of the 'really odd and unreasonable' complaints that do pop up on this board.. but I must admit to enjoying the responses given to the completely idiotic ones.

There have been many frivolous complaints on here. I have read them and yes the regular posters do sometimes point out how stupid they are being. But lets be honest ..the praise side of this part of the forum gets very little response.. I have not actually vented about MSE I have asked a question ? Does MSE understand that by helping people to gain a price reduction by complaining the cost of this will be passed onto future consumers|? Please don't avoid the question by directing me to another part of the forum...

There's a very good reason why praises get less response - there's nothing to talk about.

Someone posts a vent and you get a variety of responses - people saying how that's not their experience, people querying whether the vent is valid, people making suggestions for what can be done about the situation.

Whereas if someone posts a praise the only response is to say 'I agree', or to turn the praise into a negative by saying that they've had their own bad experience. There's a lot less to discuss there.

Some of the customer satisfaction surveys are so worded that you often could only give an "as expected" response.
    Good Point.

Two that I do regularly are the Post Office (when I buy stamps) and Waitrose (when I grab my free coffee). (Yes - it is in hope of winning £100 of vouchers as well). The questions are sometimes quite inane "Would you recommend the Post Office to your friends and family for buying stamps?" Well - no... my friends and family have never asked me where to buy stamps, they are bright enough to work out that the PO sells stamps.. I'd actually recommend buying them on eBay below face value as a money saving exercise but that's not always guaranteed availability. "The displays in store inspired me about food". No - but I wasn't looking for inspiration - I knew what I wanted to buy.

More irritatingly is when you rate something at less than 10 - meaning it met your needs perfectly well but wasn't exceptional and they ask what they could do better when the only valid answer is something they have no control over like "Not have other customers who leave trolleys across the middle of an aisle". I sometimes leave frivolous answers like "Give all customers with glasses a £10 note on arrival" in the hope of amusing anyone who has to review them.
I need to think of something new here...

    Reduce their prices by 10%?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
