Old Style Daily thread. Saturday 4th March 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning Judi and to those who will be here later. I woke very early, at 3, and couldn't get back to sleep so am pootling about.

Yesterday I cleaned the kitchen but not the cooker, will attack it today.

No other plans so can just do what I feel like.

    Have a happy day

    Morning all,

Can't sleep. Can't blame the hounds bladder or my own unfortunately. Just worry and stress.

Hester I admire your guts for having a piercing in an intimate place. Not for me though, I'd like to detract attention from my chuff not attract attention to it....besides, Hubby still ain't got used to my small tattoo at the base of my spine. After 17 years he still says it turns his stomach. As I tell him very often, it's not his job to judge or preach, just to accept.

Prodigal seems to be turning up at every meal time for food. Even bought me a bag of washing last night. I'm at a loss as to what to do about him, hence the worry. I dunno what he'll do when we go away for a few days and feel guilty that Youngest is paying board and Prodigal is getting fed for free.

Need to go shopping later. Reminder to myself to get two sympathy cards. Two deaths this week. So sad. My friends husband was fit and healthy and only 57. Out of the blue he had a massive stroke. The other, my Grandsons other Nan. In her 70s but sad nonetheless.

Oh well, let's see what today brings

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone

Judi - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that need/want one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now getting light, damp and dreich here.

DH up and just gone into work, I'll be going to work in a while as I'm opening up today, also DS2 has managed to secure some work experience and he starts that today so I'll be dropping him off to his "work place" - he'll be shattered as he has to complete so many hours as part of his college course, so he'll be there all day today and tomorrow and the same next weekend.

Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had mushroom omelette and salad. I remembered to get the steak out of the freezer, that's defrosted and now safely in the fridge, so dinner tonight will be a sort of mixed grill, steak, sausage, liver, chips, peas and onion rings.

Yesterday I got the shopping done, did the ironing, did some jobs on the pc, so not overly productive but I set myself a target of doing the shopping, ironing and doing some baking/cooking - I got the first 2 done, then because we were trying to sort out DS2's work experience I lost time doing that - but I consider it was time well spent as we got it sorted and he starts today.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning, ((((((((((hugs )))))))))) if you need one, another wide awake.

Feeling better today, will get up later and see how the day goes.
  • Morning insomniacs and all to follow! I was only a semi insomniac this morning! I woke with a start at 5.20 wanting the loo and couldn't get back off again - stressing and worrying about anything and everything as you do! I finally gave in after half an hour and got back up again. Now on my second coffee.

AOD we share the same job this morning! I MUST clean the oven before I do owt else. Then not a great deal planned, other than making a pan of my most favourite soup - Red Pepper and cream cheese. It's not a very MSE soup, as soups go, but I do enjoy it!

Later I may have a bus ride into town for a wander round. In view of our poor selection of shops it won't take me long! But I do like to pop into Fultons Foods now and then to see if they have any good bargains nearing sell-by.

Have a good day and (HUGS) for the poorlies, worried and sad amongst us. JUDI and CSARINA especially. Take care all xx

Another one here who slept badly, DGD stayed the night and kept waking up as she has a rotten cough, poor little scrap.
I have made breakfast and packup's for my L&M, I am taking him to work, then scanning a document in, then collecting the other DGD's so their brother & dad can go to football.
My L&M should finish work about 1 so I will pile the girls in the car and go and get him.
The girls will be collected between 2 & 3 and then I will clear up all the mess made by cutting and sticking coloured paper and making and icing cakes!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

Very wet and miserable here, good job I've got lots to do at DDs so wont have to be out in it much.

Went for a drink (coke) with colleagues yesterday after work, just stayed for an hour then came home and attacked my own house, things had slipped whilst I've been decorating at DDs. Stripped the bed and caught up with the washing, just need to get it all dry now.

Hope you're feeling better csarina, remember to rest.

Have a good weekend, take care. XX

Morning everyone, the brilliant sunshine has gone to be replaced with a blanket of greyness and rain.

The heavy curtain is now up in the hall in front of the door. It looks fab, my neighbour worked really hard to make it. The only thing is it's on a pole which means it's away from the wall and has a middle bracket. This means it can't be pulled right across making things very awkward so it'll be changed for a track system which'll bring it closer to the wall and sides, no gaps. I'll order it online.

After my cheeky takeaway last night I'm still rather full so will wait until later to eat. There's piles of paperwork to get through still and stuff to post. Need to do online banking too and a couple of family emails to write.

Happy hot water and heating Dumpling!

Hugs all round - happy Saturday.

Morning everyone, thanks to judi for starting the thread and hugs to anyone that needs or wants one.
Dull and wet here just now but forexast is for it dry up a bit later.
Waiting for a text from DPD to say when a parcel will be delivered so must go and get showered and dressed so I don't get caught on the hop!
No real plans for today but feel slighty steadier so hoping I can get my wheels aired. Need to sort a meal plan for the next couple of days so I don't end up doing another freezer rake.
Hope everyone has a good day x
